11,000 Jeep Compass Models Recalled in India

Jeep is one of the biggest automobile companies in the world and it wasn’t too long ago before they made their entry into India as well. However, the extremely high-range cars like Grand Cherokee and Wrangler were never going to do well in the country and that’s why the all-new Jeep Compass was launched in July 2017.

Rolling out at prices starting from just INR 14.95 Lakh, there was no doubt about the fact that Jeep India’s Compass would dominate the SUV market, and it has done so as well. However, a recent development speaks about 11,002 Jeep Compass 2WD Diesel models being recalled by the company for a ‘software upgrade’.

11,002 Jeep Compass models in India recalled

This is an official recall from Jeep India to update the vehicles’ PCM (Powertrain Control Module) software, and dealers will be contacting the concerned owners in the days to come. The update is only for the 2WD Diesel models manufactured between 18 December 2017 and 30 November 2018, and the 4WD editions made during the same period will not be affected.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is the manufacturer of the Jeep Compass in India and they made the announcement of the same, with the recalls set to begin during the first week of March 2019. This isn’t the first recall for the model in India, with around 1,200 units being recalled earlier over loose fasteners in passengers airbag modules.

The sales for this particular model have been doing brilliantly in India since its launch and Jeep is reported to have sold a total of 1,150 units in the month of January 2019, which is higher than even Mahindra’s XUV500’s 1,141 units. With its success, the company is all set to introduce another model called Jeep Trailhawk, which is set to make its debut in India around February 2019, with a rumoured starting prize of INR 23-25 Lakh.

In the international market, Jeep Gladiator was the latest model to be introduced, and this might take a while before it reaches India. ReadScoops.com will continue to monitor the progress of such top vehicles and inform you about the latest launches in the market, so stay tuned for all updates.
