On Monday (31st July 2017), FCA (Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles) announced the launch of the Jeep Compass in India. This is the most affordable model of the American company in India and it seems set to create a wave across India.
The Made-in-India Jeep Compass SUV has been launched in India at an ex-showroom price of 14.95 lakh INR (petrol) while the diesel version will be priced at an ex-showroom rate of 15.35 lakh – both Delhi prices. FCA is betting big on the SUV to overtake all competitors in India.
SUV competitors Creta, XUV500, Tucson and many more are expected to be left behind with the launch of the Compass in India, as Jeep is a high quality vehicle manufacturer and the price at which this vehicle is being offered is simply unbelievable.
The range topping model could go as high up to 21 lakh INR but it still seems pretty affordable, compared to the Jeep Wrangler which starts at 56 lakh INR and the Jeep Grand Cherokee which begins at 75 lakh INR. Here are the specifications of the Sport 1.4 Petrol:
- Seating – 5 passengers
- Displacement – 1368cc
- Power – 160 bhp @ 3750 RPM
- Torque – 250 Nm @ 1750 RPM
- Mileage – 17.1kmpl (pretty impressive if they can keep up to this)
- Central Locking – Keyless
- Gears – 6
- Airbags – 6
The Indian version of the SUV is being locally manufactured at Fiat’s Ranjangaon plant. Along with petrol/diesel variants, the Compass will be offered in a total of three models – Sport, Longitude and Limited. Would you want a test drive at this offered price?
