Mukesh Ambani to Invest Additional INR 3,000 Crore in Odisha

Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries (RIL), Mukesh Ambani, at the ‘Make in Odisha Conclave’ has announced that he will be pumping in another INR 3,000 crore to the company’s business in addition to their existing of investment of over INR 6,000 crore in Odisha (formerly known as Orissa).

Mukesh Ambani stressed that their investment philosophy is to empower everyone in the march of development. Speaking at the event, Ambani stated that the company will work towards development especially in the area of digital infrastructure.

He also added that since Jio commenced operations two years ago across the nation, India has moved from the 155th position in the mobile broadband penetration to being the no. 1 nation in the mobile data consumption. Also, Ambani stated that Jio went on to create new employment opportunities to over 30,000 people in the state of Odisha.

“For Reliance, Jio isn’t just another business. It is a mission to transform India, to transform Odisha. In the last two years, we have created and sustained new employment opportunities of over 30,000 people in this state,” Mukesh Ambani said at the conclave.

“Today, India is the fastest digitizing economy in the whole world. Jio is leading India’s digital transformation. I have a big reason to focusing on the digital business. The world is at the cusp of a digital revolution. Every thing in the world is going digital; music, movies, cars, banking, health, education. Digitization will be achieved by using the most powerful tools of our times – the tools of connectivity and digital technology,” he added.

“Our aim is to take digital life to every nook and corner of the state, particularly in rural Odisha to improve the quality of education and health care. Jio has connected all the cities and towns and 43,000 villages in this state of Odisha,” he continued.

“With Jio Giga fiber, we have now begun the ambitious push in the fixed broadband through ‘fiber to the home’ and ‘fiber to the premises’. Our aim and resolve is to ensure that India rises from the current 135th rank to be among the top-3 nations in the fixed broadband in the next three years,” Ambani concluded.
