Former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala Passes Standard 10

One of the biggest issues we have as Indians is the fact that we are not being run by the smartest of leaders. We as Indian citizens often end up complaining about our politicians who are mostly uneducated and to add to that, there is a large majority of them who have countless number of legal cases against them.

Here is one example – ex Haryana Chief Minister Prakash Chautala had quite a few corruption cases in his name and wasn’t educated either. During his tenure as CM, he was involved in a teachers’ recruitment scam which he was later convicted for and sentenced to 10 years in jail.

Now in Tihar jail, Chautala took parole in order to appear for his Class 10 exams, which he gave between 6th and 24th April and now, with the results out, he was successful – securing 53.40 in these exams, appearing through NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling).

Not only did he complete his education in jail, but anther thing to know is that he completed this education at the ripe old age of 82. Quite an achievement, we would say. We at Read Scoops would like to see more leaders like this (those who educate themselves, and not those who end up in jail, lol).

Chautala was the 7th chief minister of the state of Haryana, taking office between 1999 and 2004 and he was involved in this scam in 200, which he was proven guilty of later. His elder son is also in jail for the same reason. Om’s parole ended and is back in Tihar jail where he could probably celebrate this success today!

There’s no age limit to learning, is there?

This is Read Scoops first Edu Scoop but there are a lot more coming your way so keep your eyes open for some more interesting content in the coming days, weeks and months. Cheers!
