Deadly Scenes in Each Season of Game of Thrones

HBO earlier announced that the final season of Game of Thrones (season 8) will be aired in April next year. There have been seven seasons of this show aired so far and here is a list of the most deadly scenes in each of those seven seasons. Starting from removing the head of a lead character of the show in the first season to the most unexpected but satisfied killing in the seventh season, this article speaks about the most deadly killings in each Game of Thrones season.

Most deadly scenes in each season of Game of Thrones

Season 1: The Execution of Ned Eddard Stark:

In the ninth episode of the first season, Ned Eddard Stark was executed at the Great Sept of Baelor in King’s Landing under the orders of the most hated king of entire Game of Thrones, Joffrey Baratheon! This was the moment at which many learned that GoT wasn’t a typical drama that one gets to see on Television everyday. Especially, after all the character development for Ned, this execution has come as a shocker which no one saw coming! It was the beginning of many merciless deaths to follow in this show.

Season 2: The Assassination of Renly Baratheon

The red woman Melisandre who was then in the service of Stannis Baratheon gave birth to a shadow (alike Stannis), which she sent to commence the assassination of Renly. ‘The Ghost of Harrenhal’ as they call it stabbed Renly (King Robert’s younger brother) from his back and disappeared like a puff of smoke. And all of this had happened just in a flash with both Brienne of Tarth and Catelyn Stark looking at him shell shocked.

Season 3: The ‘Red Wedding’

The Red Wedding was a massacre at the wedding feast of Lord Edmure Tally and Roslin Frey at the Twins during the ‘War of Five Kings’. Robb Stark who was called ‘King in the North’ along with his wife and his mother and as many of his three thousand five hundred soldiers were slaughtered at this wedding. This red massacre was hosted by Lord Frey as a revenge for Robb’s breaking of a marriage pact he made with House Frey. Roose Bolton too played his part at this Red Wedding in delivering Lannisters’ regards.

Season 4: “The Mountain” vs “The Viper”

To give more context into this skull-crushing fight, Prince Oberyn Martell agrees to fight on behalf of Tyrion Lannister against Ser Gregor Clegane (The Mountain) in a trial by combat. However, the agreement has roots further back in the history of two houses! Mountain reported to have raped and murdered Oberyn’s sister, Elia Martell, and her children, the scene which was never telecasted on the show. Though Oberyn dominated Mountain during this whole fight, Mountain recovers at the end just to crush Oberyn’s skull with both his hands.

Season 5: Death of Jon Snow

Mutiny at the Castle Black resulted in the death of Jon Snow who was killed by his own men in the Night’s watch. He was killed for allowing the free folk (a.k.a Wildlings) to cross south of the Wall just to prevent them from falling in the hands of White Walkers who were north of the Wall. The Mutiny later led to the conflict between Jon’s loyal friends and the mutineers. However, Jon Snow was later resurrected by the red woman “Melisandre” in the sixth season of the show!

Season 6: The Wildfire

The sixth season of GoT also had unveiled many deaths including that of Hodor on the north side of the Wall and Ramsay Bolton at the Winterfell but Cersei Lannister blowing up King’s Landing should take the first place. This major wildfire incident led to the deaths of many lead characters of the show and also to the suicide of the then King of King’s Landing, Tommen Baratheon. This episode in the sixth season of the show also fulfilled the prophecy of Cersei as this scene completed the deaths of all her three children.

Season 7: Death of Little Finger

This has to be the most satisfying death of the whole Game of Thrones show! Lord Petyr Baelish played a perfect cunning game in turning family against family and outlived almost everyone for nearly seven complete seasons. With a scene perfectly designed to look like the execution of Arya Stark, the life of Baelish was claimed by the Stark family! Up until then in the 7th season, Sansa Stark seemed to have believed Baelish but this scene caught everyone by surprise and satisfied!
