Movies This Week – 11th November 2018

We are into the second week of November now, and a new set of movies are waiting for you to watch!

There weren’t any big releases last week in Indian cinema. Baazaar and Ayushman Khurana’s Badhai Ho are still running strong at the Box Office. The movies that were released last week in Bollywood were Lupt (Horror), Jack and Dil (Romance), Ekkees Tareekh Shubh Muhurata (Drama), and Mausam Ikrar Ke Do Pal Pyaar Ke (Drama, Romance). All of the last week releases had ratings under 3 and bad runs at the box office.

Movies

Bollywood this week:

Thugs of Hindostan

  • Language: Hindi
  • Format: 2D, 2D 4DX, IMAX 2D
  • Director: Vijay Krishna Acharya
  • Cast: Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Fatima Sana Shaikh and others

Thugs of Hindostan is the only solo release that is happening this week in Bollywood. Looking at the star cast and the big production house like YRF, it is very likely that no other film would have wanted to join the competition at the box. Thugs of Hindostan is a multi-star, big budget, historical time film that somewhat resembles Hollywood’s Pirates of the Caribbean.

The movie is based on the novel  Confessions of a Thug, with the story from historic era 1790 – 1805 period where the British empire ruled India. Aamir Khan plays the role of Firangi, a very important character of the film. It is  said that almost 300 crore was spent on making of Thugs of Hindostan and the actors have taken great efforts doing different kinds of stunts.

Despite low ratings to the movie, ToH was able to make the highest opening at Day 1 on box office. It will be worth watching how the movie performs this weekend after strong comments from critics.
