Watch Rami Malek in ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Trailer

The much anticipated first-look trailer of the Queen and Freddie Mercury biopic called ‘Bohemian Rhapsody‘ has finally been released on YouTube. The 20th Century Fox YouTube channel published the video just a few hours back and a million hits have already been registered on the trailer.

The long awaited Queen biopic trailer shows Mr. Robot, Night at the Museum and Need for Speed actor Rami Malek very nicely displaying Freddie Mercury’s witty side in this first trailer. ‘Bohemian Rhapsody‘ is a movie directed by Bryan Singer, Tom Hooper and Dexter Fletcher, and the initial release date was been scheduled for 2nd November 2018.

The movie shows Freddie Mercury’s (born as Farrokh Bulsara) entire story, right from Queen’s rise from the 1970’s, to their triumphant set at 1985’s Live Aid at London’s Wembley Arena. In addition to Malek playing the lead role, film stars Ben Hardy (Roger Taylor), Gwilym Lee (Brian May) and Joseph Mazzello (John Deacon) have also been casted.

He died due to complications from AIDS and this part has not been covered in the movie, as the movie is clearly being made as a tribute and they wouldn’t want to tarnish the legend’s name in any way. It’s surprising that we even have this trailer to be honest, as production and planning for this film has been on since ages.

So the idea for the biopic first began way back in 2010. The Dictator actor Sacha Baron Cohen was initially signed as the lead singer in the film but he left the project in 2013, leaving it languishing in development since years. Director Brian Singer was also thrown out due to no-show at the sets and a lot of complications ensued.

When you look at the trailer, you will notice that Malek is actually a pretty good dupe for the legendary singer Freddie Mercury and if the movie is half as good as this initial teaser, then this is one I will certainly not want to miss when it hits cinemas later this year. The British singer died in 1991 at the age of 45 and this long-awaited film could be a perfect tribute to him!
