Mark Wahlberg is Now World’s Highest Paid Actor

JUST IN – Mark Wahlberg is officially 2017’s highest paid actor in the world.

Last year, it was Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson who topped the Forbes list for the world’s highest paid actor but in 2017, Mark Wahlberg has overtaken him by a big amount. In the 12-month period, Wahlberg earned $68 million in the year, before taxes.

The reason for Wahlberg soaring to the top is mostly his latest film Transformers: The Last Knight. The film turned out to be the least earning film of the franchise, scored just 5.3 on IMDb, 15% on Rotten Tomatoes and 28% on Metacritic.

However, the failure of the film did not affect Mark as he gets a fixed compensation as an actor. Also adding to his riches would be the upcoming film Daddy’s Home 2. Dwayne Johnson finished at #2 on this list, with earnings of $65 million in the year.

Johnson starred in the remake of the lifeguard show Baywatch. This film didn’t do too well at the box office either, getting a 5.6 on IMDb, 19% on Rotten Tomatoes and 37% on Metacritic. However, Dwayne continued to bring in the big bucks.

Vin Diesel, Adam Sandler and Jackie Chan also made the cut for the top five of the Forbes highest paid actors of 2017 list. Three Indians also made the top 20 list – Akshay Kumar at #10, Salman Khan at #9 and Shahrukh Khan at #8.
