Top Five Best TV Shows of 2017

As we come to the end of 2017, we take a look at the TV shows which captured our imagination and left us wanting for more. We’ve had a few breakthrough programs as well. Here are the top 5 TV Series from 2017:

5. Game Of Thrones

Probably the most popular TV series ever. With legions of fan and thousands of theories later, we did find Jon Snow’s true lineage. With new alliances forged by Snow and Daenerys(with her dragons), Stark siblings getting together, Cersei losing friends rapidly it has been a roller coaster of a season.

Being the penultimate season a lot of fireworks were expected in this one and it did not disappoint. With a higher budget we got to see some amazing visual effects with dragon fire!! As the battele for the Seven Kingdoms is getting closer and intense, we have the army of Undead led by the Night King marching beyond the wall.

A visual delight with an amazing ensemble cast, its a must see show for the high fantasy fans.

4.  The Good Place

The only fantasy comedy TV Series from this list created by Michael Schur.

Starring Kristen Bell as Eleanor, a woman who wakes up in the afterlife and is introduced by Michael (Ted Danson) to the ‘The Good Place’, a heaven like place which he has designed. The problem for her is that she’s never been morally perfect! Now she has to hide her behavior and try to become a better person. With the help of her supposed soulmate Chidi (William Harper) she has to make amends and become a good person to avoid leaving the Good Place.

A light hearted comedy unlike anything you’ve ever seen.

3. Mindhunter

A crime drama series created by Joe Penhall and produced by the likes of David Fincher and Charlize Theron, Mindhunter is set in the 1970’s when the FBI had started with their criminal profiling and criminal pyschology programmes. It follows the lives of FBI agents Holden Ford(Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench(Holt Mccallany), along with psychologist Wendy Carr(Anna Torv) , who interview America’s most notorious serial killers, to understand their thoughts and to study their minds in order to prevent future crimes.

Well it all sounds like an exciting plot considering the terrific performances from the whole cast. As we get deep into the thoughts of the inmates we find ourselves wondering how easy was for these killers to lure their victims.

Its a dark drama series with men talking about killing but there’s hardly any bloodshed on the screen. A breakthrough series of 2017 which has been renewed for a second season.

2. Big Little Lies

With Hollywood A-Listers like Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon along with Shailene Woodley, this drama series created by David Kelley has gone to the next level. It revolves around a murder through the eyes of three mothers in a quiet seaside town. A dark, mystery drama about marriage, friendship and parenting. A must watch as its another new series of 2017 which has been renewed for a second season.

1. Twin Peaks: The Return

It really did happen again. David Lynch and Mark Frost made the fans wait for 25 years(yes 25 bloody years!!). We returned to Twin Peaks, the shadowy town where evil dwells in the woods. Continuing from Season 2’s infamous finale 25 years ago we follow FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper(Kyle MacLachlan) who has been stuck in the Black Lodge for all these years as his evil twin escpaed the Lodge. He gets out finally from the lodge but is stuck in another twin, as the catatonic Dougie Jones.

MacLachlan has been tremendous in his roles as Dougie and the leather faced Evil Cooper. David Lynch is back as Gordon Cole and has delivered a stellar performance along with Laura Dern. With another confusing finale, fans have to just wait and see for future developments. Twin Peaks ended on its own terms, never giving us the fans a happy ending and thats the way it has always been. We just got Lynch’ed again!! This show cant be explained in this space and we will be doing a detailed review of it soon on our page.

Twin Peaks can be summed up as David Lynch’s dream wherein he is the dreamer who designs or dreams the whole thing. Distinguished by surrealism and offbeat humor as well as distinctive cinematography, this might be Lynch’s greatest work.
