Pro Kabaddi Auction 2017 Summary

India’s biggest sports league (Pro Kabaddi League) will start this month (July 2017) and recently it concluded with its biggest ever 2 days auction in New Delhi. There was intense bidding between 12 franchise for 227 players that were selected during the auction. A total price of INR 46.99 crore was spent in these two days of auction.

Before start of the auction each franchise was permitted to retain one elite player whether a Indian or overseas player from their previous squad. The player that were retained are Rahul Chaudhari (Telugu Titans), Anup Kumar (U Mumba), Jang Kun Lee (Bengal Warriors), Ashish Kumar (Bengaluru Bulls), Meraj Sheykh (Dabang Delhi K.C), Pardeep Narwal (Patna Pirates) and Deepak Hooda (Puneri Paltan). Jaipur Pink Panthers did not retain any player from season 4.

Day one of the auction was dominated by Category A and International Players in two day Pro Kabaddi Auction. Overall INR 27.27 Cr was spent and a total of  60 players were selected. This year Pro Kabaddi has introduced 4 new teams to the league and they were given option to select one player before the auction. Harayana Steelers picked up Surrender Nada (Defender, Left-Corner), Fortune Gujarat picked up Fazel Atrachali (Defender, Left-Corner), Tamil Thalaivas picked up Ajay Thakur (Raider). UP Yoddha did not pick any player.

Rohit Kumar – 81 Lacs (Bengaluru Bulls)
Manjeet Chhillar – 75.5 Lacs (Jaipur Pink Panthers)
Po Surjeet Singh – 73 Lacs (Bengal Warriors)
Selvamani K – 73 Lacs (Jaipur Pink Panthers)

Abhishek Bachchan’s Jaipur Pink Panthers bagged two big players Manjeet (All Rounder) and Selvamani (Raider).

Abolfazel Maghsodlo (Iran) – 31.8 Lacs (Dabang Delhi K.C.)
Farhad Rahimi Milaghardhan (Iran) – 29 Lacs ( Telugu Titans)
Khomsan Thongkham (Thailand) –  20.4 Lacs (Haryana Steelers)
Dongju Hong (Republic of Korea) – 20 Lacs (U Mumba)

Iran players have been the attraction of Pro Kabaddi League from past couple of seasons and auction bidding for Iran players was very intense.
