Celebrities Born on 1st August

We at Read Scoops have made a small list of worldwide celebrities or famous people who celebrate their birthdays or birth anniversaries today, the 1st of August. Here you go:

1) Elena Vesnina

Born on 1st August 1986, the Russian professional tennis player Elena Vesnina celebrates her 31st birthday today. She has been a regular part of the WTA Tour since years now and her career best world rankings are #13 in singles and #3 in doubles. Happy birthday Elena!

2) Arun Lal

Known less for his short stint as an Indian cricketer, but more for his role as a commentator and cricket analyst, Arun Lal was born in 1955 and he celebrates his 62nd birthday today. He only managed 16 tests in a career spanning 7 years but is a popular figure in the commentary box today.

3) Bastian Schweinsteiger

Well, it looks like 1st August is a date for all sports-persons to be born. In 1984, Bastian Schweinsteiger was born and he went on to become a German football legend. Recently retired from international football, Bastian is currently playing in the MLS and is married to tennis star Ana Ivanovic.

4) Andy Blignaut

Former Zimbabwean all-rounder Andy Blignaut was born on 1st August, 1978. Yes, another sportsman!

He may have only featured in 54 ODIs for Zimbabwe in an ODI career spanning from 1999 to 2010 but he was surely one of their brightest prospects at the time. Happy birthday Andy!

5) Rapper Coolio

Artis Leon Ivey Jr. was better known by his stage name ‘Coolio’ and he turns 54 today.

The American was a rapper, actor, chef and record producer and like most rappers have, Coolio had his share of controversies too. Nonetheless, we wish the ‘Gangsta’s Paradise‘ rapper a happy birthday!

6) Graham Thorpe

Another legendary sportsperson to be born on 1st August was Graham Thorpe, who played exactly 100 tests for the England Cricket Team between 1993 and 2005. He turns 48 today. Graham also has an autobiography titled ‘Rising From the Ashes‘.

7) Yves Saint Laurent

Most of you would probably know this name as a fashion house but it is also the birth anniversary of the man behind YSL, Yves Saint Laurent himself. The French designer would turn 81 today but passed away on 1st June 2008. YSL is currently one of the best luxury fashion brands in the world.
