Christian, Nabi Secure Top Position For Renegades

Daniel Christian and Mohammad Nabi combined to stitch an unbeaten 94-run partnership for the 6th wicket to help Melbourne Renegades defeat Adelaide Strikers at the latter’s home ground. This is the second victory for Renegades in as many games which helped them get to the top of the BBL 08 points table!

Chasing 175 to victory, Renegades lost their opener Tim Ludeman early with just 21 runs on the board. Other opener Sam Harper along with the experienced Cameron White added 50 runs for the 2nd wicket to steady the chase. Rashid Khan then removed both these batsmen to leave the visiting team struggling at 82 for 5.

Christian squeezed 20 runs off the penultimate over of the chase bowled by Billy Stanlake with two massive sixes and a four; the over that completely changed the equation of the game!

Rashid Khan bowled brilliantly (4 overs, 13 runs, 2 wickets) but his lone effort with the ball was not enough to take his team over the line. Earlier in the match, Matthew Short and Jonathan Wells shared a 104-run partnership for the 4th wicket to help Adelaide Strikers get to 174 for 5 in 20 overs after being put to bat first.
