I’m sure nobody will ever forget that 2016 T20 World Cup game where India came back from the dead to beat Bangladesh by 1 run. Needing just 2 runs to win from 3 balls, Bangladesh lost 3 successive wickets and gave away the game, allowing India to go through to the semi finals.
Recently, the two teams played a test match in India which India won by 208 runs. Their next match up was in a warm up game before this tournament began – India won that by a record 240 runs after bowling out Bangladesh for just 84!
For Bangladesh, reaching the ICC Champions Trophy semi final was a first but there’s a good chance that their good run may end right here. India are a well oiled unit in great form and they should be able to reach the final with ease, but you never know what can happen.
Bangladesh have matured a lot as a team over the last one year and if they ever reach another situation where they need 2 runs off the last 3 balls, I would back Bangladesh to finish it off this time. However, are they good enough to beat an Indian team in prime form?
Bangladesh lost their game against the hosts, had one washed out game against Australia and then beat New Zealand to qualify; India bat Pakistan, lost surprisingly to Sri Lanka and then comprehensively beat South Africa to reach their semi final spot.
India may be looking to go in with an unchanged squad which means leaving out Umesh Yadav once again. However, since it were the pacers that did the damage to Bangladesh in the warm up game between these two, we at Read Scoops would want to see him play and bag 2-3 early wickets, especially the one of the in-form Tamim Iqbal.
How many of you say it’s India that will be going through? Leave your comments!
