David ‘Killer’ Miller Gets Career-Best ODI Score

UPDATE 17:15 IST: South Africa win the match by 40 runs due to a quick fall of wickets. They win the series 2-1, David Miller wins the Man of the Match award and he also wins the Man of the Series award.

14:15 IST – Marcus Stoinis turning it on at the moment after that slow start of 39/3 Australia got themselves into earlier on. Stoinis has hit a couple of maximums and is currently on 40(53) as Australia are 101/3 after 24 overs. The Stoinis vs Tahir battle is going to be fun to watch.

The 2018 South Africa tour of Australia is currently underway and with the series level at 1-1 prior to today, the 3rd ODI was the all-important decider between the two. In this game, it was David ‘Killer’ Miller and captain Faf du Plessis who stepped up to take South Africa to a brilliant 1st innings score and give them a great chance to win the series.

David Miller scores career best 139(108)

South Africa were in trouble early on at 55/3 but then du Plessis and Miller got together to treat the fans at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart, along with all of those watching from around the world. du Plessis scored 125(114) and Miller scored a career-best 139(108), going past his previous ODI best score of 138*.

While both were equally brilliant today, it was more of Miller’s day, scoring his 5th ODI ton and wow’ing the crowds with 13 fours and 4 maximums. The player got his ‘Killer Miller’ nickname at the Indian Premier League when he scored a century to complete a victory that was almost impossible. That’s when the world knew about his talent, but sadly, he hasn’t been able to consistently reproduce that form at the highest level.

His ODI batting average of 37-odd and T20I average of 27-odd doesn’t do justice to this man’s batting prowess and today, he can bask in the glory of this beautiful innings he played alongside his skipper Faf, which helped the Proteas get up to a very competitive score of 320/5 in their 50 overs.

Let’s adore the partnership:

It’s the series decider and Australia won’t let this game finish as a one-sided one. Finch and his men are currently re-fuelling in the innings break, but we’re sure they’re going to come out and give their 100% to chase down this score and try to win this ODI series at home. Keep reading ReadScoops.com for more timely updates from this series and from the entire cricketing world.
