Dream11 Suspends PSL Contests After Pulwama Attack

In a very recent development from India’s leading fantasy sports operator, Dream11 has gone on to suspend the rest of their offerings and contests for the 2019 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which is the fourth edition of their premier T20 league, which sees participation from top international cricketers.

In the wake of the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, 40+ Indian soldiers were killed in a dastardly attack by our neighbouring country, Pakistan. The lives of so many innocent jawans came to an end on Valentine’s Day, 14th February 2019, in what is being termed as one of the worst terror attacks of the decade.

The entire country of India seems to have boycotted Pakistan right now, with several industries all chipping in however they can. Dream11 too decided to be a part of this movement and they have called off all contests for the current edition of PSL 4. This was communicated to their users via a email sent out on 16th February.

This is the email they shot out to their huge database:

Dream11 suspends contests for PSL 4

This was quite a big move from the industry giant, considering they are cutting out on what could’ve been some massive profits, like they manage each series. Apart from cancelling this league, they decided to donate an amount of 10 Lakh Rupees to the Government of India’s Bharat Ke Veer fund, to pay their respects to those who were martyred in Kashmir.

A suicide bomber vehicle rammed into our Indian convey to create this mess, affecting so many families. Millions of Indians across the country have shown their respect in different ways, and we should do so as well. It wasn’t too long ago that a movie called URI was released, depicting India’s reaction to the last terror attack in the form of a surgical strike.

How do we react this time? For know, India has withdrawn Pakistan from the ‘Most Favoured Nation’ status. Keep following ReadScoops.com for more updates on the Pulwama attacks and for similar updates from the fantasy sports industry as well.
