For the first time, fantasy websites are covering a Zimbabwe domestic tournament and we’re talking about the 2020 Pro50 Championship which began on 5th February and will run until the 14th of the month. Today, Mashonaland Eagles will have another go playing Match 7 of the tournament. So far, this team has 1 win in their 3 games and they’ll be looking to better that record today.
They will be playing against Rangers, a team that hasn’t been able to get themselves a victory as yet. They’ve played 2 nd lost 2 and for them, this becomes a crucial game as they would want to get off the bottom spot on the points table. - Tournament: 2020 Pro50 Championship.
- Date: 10th February 2020, 1:00pm IST.
- Venue: Old Hararians, Harare.
- Capacity: Unknown.
- Series status: Match 7 of the round robin stage.
Form (recent first)
- ME: W W L
- RAN: L L
- Tinashe Kamunhukamwe – 5 fifties in last 10 domestic games.
- Elton Chigumbura – 6 single-digit scores in last 10 games.
- Daniel Jakiel in last 4 List A games for Eagles – 9 wickets.
- Brendan Taylor – 18 centuries in 305 List A games.
With the bat, Tinashe Kamunhukamwe recovered after his failure of just 1 run in the opening game, then returning with scores of 68 and 81* in the next two, currently making him the highest run scorer for Eagles so far this tournament. 100+ international games to his name and Chamu Chibhabha could also be a good fantasy pick, with scores of 42 and 9 so far this season. However, he didn’t play the last game for Eagles.
I’m a big fan of selecting those with international experience first, that’s why Elton Chigumbura makes my side even though he has only 35 runs in 3 games, and has stopped bowling now too; he can be a game-changer on his day. All-rounder Tinotenda Mutombodzi has 3 wickets and 31 runs in 2 games so far and he will be a good pick because he also bagged a fifer against this team in December 2019.
Though he has no great scores to his name in his career, Johnathan Campbell has made a decent start to this tournament with scores of 42 and 30 so far, and that’s why I’ll add him to my MyFab11 (sign-up with code “READAD46“) fantasy team. To help him with the bat, there’s Brendan Taylor who has 52 runs in 2 games and he’s undoubtedly one f the most talented batsmen to have played for Zimbabwe.
With the ball, Charlton Tshuma managed a wicket in each game so far, and he’s literally been one of their only successful bowlers in 2 games so far. When he played this team in an FC game in December, he picked a 4-fer. Another bowler who bagged a wicket in each game so far is Manson Chikowero who had 5 wickets in two limited overs games prior to this tournament as well.
