CSA Emerging Teams Cup 2019 – USSA vs SA-ET Fantasy Preview

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has organized an emerging teams tri-series between University Sports South Africa XI (USSA), and the emerging teams of Sri Lanka and South Africa. When selecting your fantasy teams for these matches, ensure you select those players first who have experience in bigger competitions and in some cases, experience playing for the senior national team.

While South Africa and Sri Lanka are both knocked out of the ICC 2019 World Cup, they have a chance to do well here and today, we have a match-up between both local teams USSA and the South Africa Emerging Team (SA-ET). USSA have played two and lost two, while SA-ET have won one and lost one so far. The reverse fixture saw SA-ET winning by 168 runs. University Sports South Africa XI

Now something to note here is that while USSA has had bad match results so far, they’ve had a couple of individual performers like Delano Potgieter. I made him my vice-captain in the last game and it surely paid off with 124* and 3 wickets in the last game, currently leading the batting charts in the tournament. Another successful pick for me in that last game was Isma-eel Gafieldien and he has 2 fifties in 2 games, so both these will be a part of my fantasy team.

All-rounders are always the most valuable players in fantasy league contests and here, one vital player could be Ruan de Swardt. He has 42 runs and 4 wickets in USSA’s 2 games so far but what’s interesting is that he has been consistent with scores of 22* and 20 and 2 wickets in each game so far. Don’t miss this player!

South Africa – Emerging Team

Rubin Hermann is the USSA wicket-keeper and he scored 14 in the last game which was his best score in 10+ matches, so it’s clear that we want to avoid this player. Instead, pick the SA Emerging Team wicket-keeper Sinethemba Qeshile. He has also had only 2 double-digit scores in his last 10 matches but the potential here is much greater. He recently made his debut for the SA national team and can be a big hitter in death overs for SA-ET.

Tony de Zorzi had a good season for the Titans and has continued here for the SA Emerging team with scores of 58 and 53 in two games so far. He has got good support from Raynard van Tonder who failed in the last game but returned with 102* in the second game. Another person you want to include in your Dotball (Sign-up and get Rs. 51 FREE) fantasy team is Thando Ntini, son of the legendary Makhaya Ntini, someone who has 7 wickets in 2 games so far.
