Over a week since the start and we’ve already reached Match 12 of the ICC 2019 World Cup in England. The hosts England have been involved in two high scoring encounters, winning the first against South Africa comfortably while losing the next narrowly to Pakistan. Now, they take on Bangladesh, who have had a similar journey so far in CWC 2019, with one win in two games.
Bangladesh took down South Africa after posting their highest ODI total and then nearly kept their calm to beat New Zealand in a low-scoring encounter last night. Bangladesh seem to be the more spirited team while the hosts are undoubtedly the stronger among the two. Keep reading for our complete MyFab11 (sign-up with code “READAD46“) fantasy preview of the ENG vs BAN game…

Form (recent first)

- BAN: L W W W W
- England have won 7 of their 13 previous ODIs here.
- Bangladesh have won BOTH of their previous ODIs here.
- Jos Buttler has 307 runs in 7 previous ODIs here.
- 300+ has been achieved here on 10 occasions.
- Bangladesh beat England by 15 runs in CWC 2015.
Jofra Archer had an off-day against Pakistan, going wicketless and recording the second most expensive spell for an Englishman at the World Cup. However, that doesn’t change the threat that he brings to the side. Remember, Liam Plunkett has 11 wickets in 4 ODIs at this ground, so if I was part of the management, I’d make sure this guy is brought back into the playing eleven. Maybe in place of Mark Wood.
While picking wickets may be an issue, scoring runs isn’t for England. With everyone having hit big scores and great form, the only one worth leaving out of your fantasy team right now looks like the captain Eoin Morgan. Joe Root has been the most consistent with so many 30s and 40s before he scored a century while Jos Buttler also plundered a ton against Pakistan before getting dismissed. Bairstow has scores of 0 and 32 in CWC 2019 while Buttler has 4 fifties in 7 ODIs here, so I’ll pick the latter.
Clearly, Shakib al Hasan seems to be the man for big occasions for Bangladesh. While there are and there will be big stars for this team, he has put in match-winning efforts in both games far, batting at a higher position as well. He has recent experience at IPL 2019 and also has a score of 114 in his only previous ODI at this ground. Pick him for sure while Mosaddek Hossain will be your next best fantasy pick.
Mosaddek has 3/13 on this ground before while he also bowled a brilliant spell to pick 2 wicket against New Zealand in the last game. Ensure this all-rounder is a part of your MyFab11 (sign-up with code “READAD46“) fantasy team. Another man for big occasions is Mahmudullah who has 102* in his only previous ODI here, while also loving the CWC, scoring two centuries in 2015. He has scores of 46* and 20 so far in CWC 2019.
