CWC Challenge 2019 – KEN vs UGA Fantasy Preview

After so many years of being at the highest level and so much exposure in international cricket, Kenya has never been able to sustain in cricket. They even made the semi-final of a CWC tournament once but now, can’t even qualify. They’re now playing the 2019 CWC Challenge – Group B tournament in Oman where they lost to Italy, a rather newbie team in international cricket.

Now, they have a chance to redeem themselves as they play Uganda, another team that hasn’t had too much exposure in the cricketing world. However, these African neighbours shouldn’t be taken lightly as Uganda won their opening fixture against Jersey and they will be high on confidence. Numbers

  • Last 5 List A games head to head, Kenya leads 4-1.
  • Irfan Karim – 3 fifties in last 6 games for Kenya.
  • Rakep Patel – Six 25+ scores in last 10 games for Kenya.
  • Dhiren Gondaria scores in last 3 games – 0, 1, 7.
  • Riazat Ali Shah scores in last 3 games – 37, 53*, 44*.
  • Ronak Patel last 4 scores – 0, 2, 8, 8.

Kenya

We spoke about how Irfan Karim has been good for Kenya over the years, having even scored 2 hundreds in only 9 ODIs so the country. In the opening game too, he scored 71 in a losing cause. He will open the innings alongside Naman Patel and there’s not real history for this player, except the last game where he scored just 1. Pick him because he won’t be very popular in fantasy leagues for this game.

Rakep Patel is another handy middle-order batsman who has been around for years and has been very consistent in recent months too. With the ball, pick the captain Shem Ngoche because he’s been the most consistent bowler, ending a 10+ game wicketless streak in the last game. To add to that, he can be handy with the bat. Their star all-rounder Collins Obuya can be your KEN vs UGA fantasy team captain today.

Uganda

Opening batsman Roger Mukasa can be skipped from your Howzat (sign-up with code “READ1234”) fantasy team as he has only 4 double digit scores and a best of 16 in his last 10 games. On the other hand, his opening partner Arnold Otwani has had 2 fifties in his last 10 games including a best score of 88 against Denmark late last year, so I’ll pick Otwani in my side. All-rounder Dinesh Nakrani can also be selected with 8 wickets in his last 10 games and 79* in his last outing.

Talking about all-rounders, another decent pick should be Riazat Ali Shah who picked 1/34 in the last game and also scored 37 with the bat, continuing his good run of form in recent months. The side is being led by Brian Masaba who also does a little bit of both, picking 1 wicket and scoring 40 against Jersey in the opening game. Charles Waiswa is a must have in the bowling department, having picked 15 wickets in his last 10 outings.
