There has been rain around the corner in the last few weeks and that’s one of the reasons why we had draws in all three games of the round robin stage of the 2019 Duleep Trophy. However, on the virtue of points accumulated, it’s India Red vs India Green in the 2019 final and they move to play a 5-day final, so the chances of a draw now have drastically reduced.
Choose carefully as the squads for both teams have been modified. Many players have headed to be with the India-A team as they play South Africa A in Thiruvananthapuram. Similarly, some from that squad were released and will be available here. Keep reading for our complete MyFab11 (sign-up with code “READAD46“) fantasy preview of the 2019 Duleep Trophy final between India Red and India Green…
- Tournament: 2019 Duleep Trophy.
- Date: 4-8 September 2019, 9:30am IST
- Venue: M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
- Capacity: 40,000+
- Series status: Round robin stage.
Form (recent first)
- IND-R: Draw, Draw
- IND-G: Draw, Draw
- Karun Nair in 2019 Duleep Trophy – 99, 166*, 90.
- Akshay Wakhare – 9 wickets in 3 bowling innings so far.
- Akshath Reddy – 146, 4 in only batting game this tournament.
- Faiz Fazal – only 29 runs in this tournament so far.
The reins of captaincy continue to stay with Priyank Panchal, who failed with scores of 15, 9 and 31 in his 3 innings in the 2019 Duleep Trophy so far. Prior to that too, he scored 11 and 3 in an FC game for India A, but he’s known for his outstanding consistency which you can read all about here. Not many will be picking him and that’s what makes him a good fantasy pick today. A player who has made a fighting case for him to return to the Indian side is Karun Nair.
In three innings this tournament, Nair’s lowest score is 90 and that speaks volumes of the kind of form he’s in. He’s double the next best in the run-scoring charts this year. Mahipal Lomror is another good pick with the bat, having scored a few big knocks for Rajasthan in the recent domestic season while also scoring 126 in his only innings in this tournament. With the ball, Akshay Wakhare is a must have, being the leading wicket-taker – 9 wickets in 2 games including one 5-for.
India Green is being led by the veteran Faiz Fazal but it was January this year that he last registered a 50+ score in professional cricket, so I’ll count him out of my fantasy team for the final. With the ball, Ankit Rajpoot has the fire and height and everything you would expect from a mean pacer, so I’ll pick him, already having 4 scalps in 2 games in the 2019 Duleep Trophy.
Another good bowler is Ishan Porel but he joins the India-A squad for the final 2 ODIs. Instead, I’d pick Dharmendrasinh Jadeja who scored 37 and picked a 4-fer in his only game played. One batting pick for my MyFab11(sign-up with code “READAD46“) fantasy team would be Siddhesh Lad who has 84 runs in 2 innings including a top score of 64 so far.
