It’s going to be an interesting approach by the home team New Zealand, who come into this game having lost 4 consecutive T20Is including 2 in a row in this home series. In both games, they batted first against India, arguably one of the better chasing teams in the world right now across all formats. Maybe, they’d like to spice up their team combination going into this 3rd T20I at Hamilton.
As for India, they’ve won 5 consecutive T20Is and have taken a 2-0 lead in this 5-match series. We don’t expect them to make any changes in this winning team combination, at least till they’ve won the series. At this ground, they lost their only previous T20 international here. - Rohit Sharma in this series so far – 8, 7.
- Colin de Grandhomme in this series so far – 0, 3.
- KL Rahul – 3 fifties in his last 4 T20 internationals.
- New Zealand – won 7 of their 9 previous T20Is at this venue.
I’m go with a player who hasn’t contributed much yet this series. Rohit Sharma’s single digit scores in this series are his only scores below 10 runs in his last 10 innings and it shouldn’t be too long before he makes a comeback. However, it’s impossible to leave out KL Rahul who has been in smashing form with the bat, also seeming comfortable with the keeping gloves. He has scores of 56 and 57* so far.
While he hasn’t got a go with the bat yet, Ravindra Jadeja has been brilliant with the ball, picking 3 wickets in 2 games at a stunning economy of 6 per over, which is brilliant at these small grounds. Another person who can make your fantasy side is Shivam Dube. With only 2 wickets and 21 runs in 2 games, he hasn’t contributed much but is a highly capable all-rounder. One possible change is bringing in Navdeep Saini for Shardul Thakur.
Colin de Grandhomme hasn’t been successful at #4 with the bat and hasn’t even bowled all series. Usually very effective against India, even Mitchell Santner hasn’t proved himself with only 1 wicket in 2 games, going at 8.62 runs an over. Either one of these all-rounders could be replaced by Daryl Mitchell who is a capable all-rounder himself, picking 2/27 in his only previous T20I at this ground.
With the bat, pick Martin Guptill first in your PlayerzPot (Use Code “READ1234”) fantasy team as he’s the only one who has looked good at the top of the order in both games with scores of 30 and 33 so far. With the ball, Ish Sodhi is their leading wicket-taker with 3 wickets in 2 games this series and they’ll stick with him especially since Virat Kohli has been uncomfortable against leg spin in the last year or so.
