IPL 2019 Match 44 – CSK vs MI Fantasy Preview

Is there anything that MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings hasn’t achieved over the years at the Indian Premier League (IPL)? Three titles and unbelievable consistency is what they’ve shown over the years, but they seem to not have the est of results against Mumbai Indians, especially in the last couple of years. In the reverse fixture, CSK had their only real big failure of this season so far.

Mumbai have never been so consistent over the years as they have been in IPL 2019 and that’s a promising sign as they look to seal their spot in the playoffs. Mumbai have won 4 of their 6 games at this stadium but remember, CSK are unbeaten so far at their home ground this season. Stats

  • MI won the reverse fixture against CSK by 37 runs.
  • Head to head, MI lead CSK 15-12.
  • In the last MI vs CSK games, the latter have won only once.
  • Dwayne Bravo has 32 wickets against MI.
  • Rohit Sharma has 560 runs in 19 innings against CSK.

Chennai

Chennai is going to be one of the few teams in IPL 2019 won’t be really be affected by players leaving for national duty. The best news for them was the return to form for Shane Watson, who scored 96 runs in the last game after 10 failures prior to this. Dwayne Bravo is one of the only weak links left in this side, as he hasn’t been getting to bat a lot and his death overs bowling hasn’t been as good as we know he’s capable. I’m skipping him for my fantasy team.

Imran Tahir has 16 wickets while Deepak Chahar has 14 wickets in this season so far, but Tahir only has 1 wicket in his last two games so here’s your chance to drop this popular bowler for another, higher value fantasy player. Chahar will be up against his brother so he will be raring to go, while your other bowling option could come in the form of the veteran Harbhajan Singh.

Mumbai

Deepak’s brother Rahul Chahar has been one of the best young talents of IPL 2019 so far and he automatically gets a spot in my fantasy team. Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga haven’t been as impressive this season, with 11 and 8 wickets respectively. You can keep Chahar as your only frontline bowler and pick both the Pandya brothers, where 8 overs are almost guaranteed between the two. Hardik Pandya is a good choice for captain.

The wicket-keeper choice is a tough one 81, 40, 35, 65 – these are Quinton de Kock’s last 4 scores in IPL 2019 and he’s up against the legendary MS Dhoni, who seems to only get better with age, like a rare wine. If CSK is chasing, pick Dhoni, or else QdK can stay. Skip Kieron Pollard as he hasn’t got too many chances. Beuran Hendricks has been signed in place of Alzarri Joseph and the former is available for selection.
