IPL 2019 Match 8 – SRH vs RR Fantasy Preview

Last night’s RCB vs MI match kept everyone on the edge of their seats and that’s exactly what the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all about. It’s now on in full swing and we expect no less drama and entertainment when we watch Match 8 of IPL 2019, where Sunrisers Hyderabad play host to Rajasthan Royals, both of whom lost their opening games this season.

Both will be looking to get on the board soon and open their account this year, while one of these high class teams will finish with 2 losses in 2 games. On paper, Royals have bigger names with fatter price tags but if you take into account the history of the last 3-4 years in the IPL, SRH are not the kind of team that loses 2 games in a row very often. Keep reading for our complete PlayerzPot (Use Code “READ1234”) fantasy preview of the SRH vs RR game…

Stats

  • SRH’s last loss (vs KKR) was only their third loss after posting 180+.
  • SRH have won 15 of their last 21 home matches since IPL 2016.
  • Bhuvneshwar Kumar is 4 short of 100 IPL wickets.
  • Ajinkya Rahane has been dismissed by Bhuvi 6 times.

Hyderabad

It’s their first game at home and the biggest boost would be the return of Kane Williamson, who missed their season opener. However, the decision on his fitness will be a last minute one. Make no mistake – Rashid Khan is an automatic pick in your fantasy eleven. Then, you might want to choose one player between David Warner and Williamson, Warner being the likely pick after his 85 in the last game. Remember, this comes after 3 fifties in the 2018/19 Bangladesh Premier League..

Don’t miss on picking Vijay Shankar. The player has really matured over the last one year and done well at the international stage as well. A hard working and humble player, he scored 40* with the bat in the last game and is very well capable of hitting the big shots, while he is handy with the ball as well. However, with SRH’s wide range of bowling options, we’re not sure if Shankar will be used as a bowling option.

Rajasthan

Jos Buttler. Let’s not miss this name on the team sheet. I’m tempted to drop him as he’s a very popular pick, but I simply can’t In IPL 2018, he resurrected the Rajasthan Royals campaign with 5 consecutive fifties and now began where he left off last year, scoring 69 against KXIP, before being controversially ‘Mankaded’. Since he is also behind the wickets for RR, I’m going to play Buttler as my captain.

Steve Smith on return wasn’t as effective as we thought he would be and I believe he might take a few more games before finding his groove. Rahul Tripathi is one of my favourite players in the RR camp but I’m leaving him out too, since he’s batting too low. Similarly, INR 8.4 Crore spent on Jaydev Unadkat but I’m keeping him out as I don’t believe he’s nearly as good as his price tag. His 0/44 in 3 overs in the last game proves that fact. Pick both all rounders – Ben Stokes and K Gowtham.
