The opening day of the 2019 Karnataka Premier League had just one match but since then right up till the play-offs, it’s going to be a double header each day. Remember, choose your team keeping in mind the Chinnaswamy pitch which assists spinners and is good for batsmen too. Today, we bring to you details of Match 5 – Bengaluru Blasters vs Bijapur Bulls.
Blasters played the opening game of the season where they batted 13 overs before the rain came down hard and washed out the game. As for Bijapur, they are yet to play a game in KPL 2019 and will look to begin on a winning note. Keep reading for our Howzat (sign-up with code “READ1234”) fantasy preview and predictions of the BB vs BIJ game…

- Head to head in completed games, Bijapur Bulls leads 2-0.
- Bijapur beat Bengaluru in the KPL 2018 final by 7 wickets.
- Bharat Chipli – 254 runs in 6 games in KPL 2018.
In KPL 2018, Rohan Kadam scored 155 runs in 5 games including 2 fifties and he began with a similar consistency with 23 in the first game which was washed out due to rain against Mysuru Warriors. Also pick Nikin Jose who was 28* at the time the rain came to ruin the game. Jose returns to KPL after a year’s break and he’s handy with the ball too; none can forget his dream spell of 6/11 a few years back in KPL 2015.
With the ball, V Koushik and Doddamani Anand were the highest wicket takers in the last season with 8 wickets each. Pick both and considering Koushik is a middle order batsman as well, you can pick him as your vice-captain or captain as well. All-rounders have better chances of accumulating fantasy points.
My first Howzat (sign-up with code “READ1234”) fantasy pick for today’s game is Bharat Chipli who has had an illustrious career so far. Now 36 years old, Chipli ended as the top scorer of the tournament in KPL 2018 with 2 fifties in 6 games and his lowest score in the entire tournament was 19 which he scored in the final. It’s a replay of the KPL 2018 final and he will hope to begin KPL 2019 with a bang again.
Raju Bhatkal was the third highest scorer in that tournament last year with 195 runs in 7 games and Bijapur has picked him up from Mysuru, so we can expect a lot of runs from this team. With the ball, Gneshwar Naveen is an option as he picked up 6 wickets in 6 games last year. However, the biggest threat is KC Cariappa who picked up 8 wickets in 6 games and more importantly, he has IPL experience under his belt.
