Nepal Tour of Malaysia 2019 – 1st T20 Fantasy Preview

So we’ll soon be over the 2019 ICC World Cup fever, with just a day left till the finals between England and New Zealand. However, there’s always more cricket and fantasy cricket leagues to look forward to. Nepal is touring Malaysia for a series of 2 T20s at the Kinrara Oval, where a tri-series recently took place between Malaysia, Thailand and Maldives; it was obviously won by the home team.

Much like we used the term ‘obviously’ above, this series is expected to have an obvious result too. While Malaysia has played more cricket in recent times and Nepal is playing away from home, we still expect the visiting team to emerge victorious, as they are just outside the top 10 ICC teams in T20 cricket. Keep reading for our complete Howzat (sign-up with code “READ1234”) fantasy preview of the MAL vs NEP 1st T20…

Stats

  • Nepal is ranked 11th on the ICC T20 Rankings.
  • Malaysia is ranked 35th on the ICC T20 Rankings.
  • 4 out of 5 completed T20Is at this ground have been won batting second.
  • In 4 previous T20Is here, Malaysia has lost NONE.
  • Syed Aziz – 156 runs in 4 T20 internationals here.
  • Anwar Rahman – 7 wickets in 2 bowling innings here.

Malaysia

Talking about the home team, there are a couple of must-pick all-rounders that did well in the recent tri-series. One of them is the 20-year old Syed Aziz. As you can see above, he was the highest scorer in that tournament with 2 fifties in 4 games and an average of nearly 80. To add to that, he is often thrown the ball, having picked a wicket in that series too. The next best performer with the bat in that series was wicket-keeper Shafiq Sharif, who scored 127 runs despite having a duck in Game 1.

Ahmad Noor will lead the side but I’ll be skipping this player from my fantasy team. Like I said, all-rounders are always the most important in T20 games and Muhamad Syahadat was one of their most valuable players in the recent triangular series. He didn’t get too many chances with the bat which left him with 60 runs in 4 games including one innings of 41*, but let’s not forget he picked up 5 wickets as well. Don’t miss this player in your team.

Nepal

Being promoted to captain of the Nepal cricket team is Paras Khadka, opening batsman who has been around since a while now. The 31-year old has picked up 11 wickets in his last 5 domestic games while also scoring a few runs. No one can forget his 115 against UAE earlier this year and this guy is a good candidate to be your captain or vice-captain for this 1st ODI.

Another player who has a lot of experience in T20 leagues around the world including BBL, IPL and more is Sandeep Lamichhane and he can’t not be a part of your Howzat (sign-up with code “READ1234”) fantasy team. He takes wickets galore and will be a valuable part of your team. Pawan Sarraf also makes it to the squad after a good ACC U-19 Eastern Region Cup with the youth team recently, in Malaysia itself, so he will have a hold of conditions here.
