New Zealand U-19 Tour of Australia 2019 – 3rd ODI Fantasy Preview

Australia and New Zealand have both reached the semi-final stage of the ongoing ICC 2019 World Cup in England and in another part of the world, these two countries’ youth teams are having a go at each other. However, it hasn’t been a very satisfying tour so far for players and even fans, as both ODIs so have been washed out due to rain, the 2nd ODI without even a single ball being bowled.

Once again, Australia U-19 take on New Zealand U-19 at the same ground where all 4 games are scheduled. We still only have the 1st ODI as reference of who to pick and who not to. Both teams are expected to play the same line-ups and you can keep reading for our MyFab11 (sign-up with code “READAD46“) fantasy preview of the AUS U19 vs NZ U19 3rd ODI…

Australia U-19

The Australia U19s team is being captained by Oliver Davies who should definitely be a part of your fantasy team. Davies bats and bowls both, and that’s always valuable in fantasy cricket. Fail in one, you can cover up elsewhere. Recently, AUS U-19 played an ODI series against Sri Lanka U19. Davies went wicketless in that 3-match series but he scored 13, 52, 50*. In the 1st ODI against NZ U19s too, he was one of only two batsmen to score a fifty – 58(43).

The second of those two was middle order batsman, Mackenzie Harvey. He also played for the Melbourne Renegades at BBL 2018/19 at such a young age, which speaks volumes of his talent. The batsman is nephew of former cricketer Ian Harvey; if he’s anything like his uncle, Mackenzie surely becomes worth picking in your fantasy team. Among the bowlers, pick Tanveer Sangha – he picked up 5 wickets in 3 games in that series against SL U-19, and was also selected to play for Sydney Thunder in the BBL in the recent season.

New Zealand U-19

The visiting team is being led by Ollie White and since I know he’ll be playing, he makes my fantasy team for sure. If you have to choose only one of two openers, go for his partner Rhys Mariu who doesn’t just bat but also bowls some leg-spin, thus giving higher chances of scoring fantasy points. Mariu gave away 60 runs in 8 overs in the 1st ODI that was washed out, but he prized an important wicket, that of Jake Fraser.

The hero of the 1st ODI (whatever was played) was Aditya Ashok, bagging 3/57 in that game remember, wickets gain you points and not the runs conceded, so ignore the fact that he was expensive. Another bowling option for your MyFab11(sign-up with code “READAD46“) fantasy team is Kristian Clarke who bowled well to end with 1/30 in the 1st ODI. Ben Pomare will don the gloves for NZ U-19 and he’s my wicket-keeper choice.
