It’s a day for the Australians in the cricketing world at the moment, with Australia taking on Bangladesh in the very well-fought ongoing ICC 2019 World Cup. At the same time, the Australia A side has set out on their 2019 tour of England where they will play 5 unofficial ODIs and 2 unofficial Tests between 20 June and 17 July 2019. The tour begins here with the 1st ODI between Northamptonshire and Australia A!
The number one rule while selecting players for any ‘A’ team in fantasy cricket is selecting those players who have international experience for the senior team. Here, we may find a few who missed being picked to the Australian World Cup squad and these guys should all be a part of your team. Keep reading for our complete PlayerzPot (Use Code “READ1234”) fantasy preview of the NOR vs AUS-A 1st ODI…
- Tournament: Australia A tour of England 2019.
- Date: 20th June 2019, 5:30pm IST
- Venue: County Ground, Northampton.
- Capacity: 6,500+
- Series status: 1st unofficial ODI of the 5-match series.
Form (recent first)
- NOR: L W L L L
- AUS-A: L W W L NR
- Average 1st innings score here – 211 runs.
- Travis Head scored 143 runs in 4 ODIs in the 2018 quadrangular series in India.
- D’Arcy Short scored 136 runs in 3 ODIs in the 2018 quadrangular series in India.
- Joshua Cobb – 4×50 and 1×100 for Northants in last 2 months.
One of the most worked out players in recent months is Joshua Cobb and he has quite a lot of big scores since April this year, making him an important pick today. Another very important player in the team is Rob Keogh who has been listed as a batsman but he has picked up plenty of wickets for this team.
With two fifties and a century in his last 10 outings for Northants, Ben Curran becomes an important pick too. The bowlers may have a tough time getting past a packed AUS-A top order which means I’ll pick just a bowler or two, with one choice being the tall and bustling ex-Zimbabwe international, Blessing Muzarabani. Former South African opener Richard Levi could be the x-factor player but check after the toss to see if he makes the side.
Travis Head leads the team and he’s one of the first who should be in your fantasy team. He has plenty of experience playing for Australia and apart from scoring well in the recent quadrangular series in India, he also picked up 3 wickets in that series. His vice-captain is Josh Hazlewood and this guy’s exclusion was the biggest shock when Australia’s CWC 2019 squad was announced. He has 240 international wickets and he’s even worth selecting as your captain or vice-captain.
Head announced that D’Arcy Short will open the innings with Matthew Wade, while Peter Handscomb will take the gloves for the 1st and 2nd ODI. Wade comes off 3 fifties and a century in 4 games at the Sheffield Shield in Australia while Short hasn’t been in the best of forms. Mitchell Marsh will have a point to prove after being left out of the Australian squad so he’s a must have in your PlayerzPot (Use Code “READ1234”) fantasy team; he’s coming off 7 wickets and a century in his last 2 Sheffield Shield games.
