One-Day Cup 2019 – NOTTS vs LANCS Fantasy Preview

The Royal London One-Day Cup has begun and there are quite a few big names in the 2019 season as countries prepare for the upcoming 50-over World Cup, a reason why some of the players chose this over the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Among many other matches today, Nottinghamshire host Lancashire in one of the games, at the iconic Trent Bridge Stadium.

Despite a 5-wicket haul and a fifty in their opening game, Lancashire ended up on the losing side while Nottinghamshire are preparing themselves for their first game of the season. Keep reading for our complete PlayerzPot (Use Code “READ1234”) fantasy preview of the NOTTS vs LANCS game here…

English One Day Cup - Notts vs Lancs fantasy preview

Stats

  • The last time Notts lost to Lancs in the 40/50-over tournament was August 2011.
  • In the last 5 Head to Head fixtures, Lancs lead Notts, 3-1.
  • In the last meeting (any format), Notts beat Lancs by 9 runs.

Nottinghamshire

Notts announced their 14-man squad for their opening fixture and a star to feature in this line up is James Pattinson who makes my fantasy team for today. Alex Hales will be absent for the first three games. DO NOT pick any of Richard Gleeson, Toby Lester, and Danny Lamb, as all miss out with different injuries.

Steven Mullaney will lead the side and since team selection might be tricky for fantasy players as less information is available, select both captains. Samit Patel is a consistent performer in the English domestic set-up, with crucial performances with bat and ball both, so he can make a good captain/vice-captain selection. Similarly, Jake Ball could be a good pick as he comes in with a lot of recent international experience.

Lancashire

Haseeb Hameed and Keaton Jennings are both rock-solid players at the top of the order, both having made Test debuts for England in recent years. Jennings scored a fifty in the last game, while Glenn Maxwell scored 35(21) in the last game. Maxwell was brilliant in the ODI series against India recently and has skipped IPL 2019 to get experience in English conditions. He is another good captain/vice-captain selection.

Jos Buttler and Liam Livingstone will miss out as they are at the IPL, while Alex Davies also misses out with an injury. Dane Vilas has skipped the CSA T20 Challenge for this one and you can pick him as he will captain Lancashire. James Anderson went wicketless in the last game but his experience will be crucial in these overcast conditions; expect him to bag a few early wickets.
