It’s not 1 and it’s not 2 or event 3. It’s 7! That’s how many ODIs have been scheduled between the Under-19’s of Pakistan and South Africa in South Africa. Take your eyes off the ICC 2019 World Cup for a while and get a closer look at the young talent who could be future stars of tomorrow. The tour takes place between 22nd June and 7th July and nothing but 7 ODIs will be played between SA U-19 and PAK U-19 during this time.

Remember, Pakistan U19 is coming off a successful tour of Sri Lanka, winning the ODI series 3-2. While the senior team may not be doing too well, the junior team is doing well and for fantasy cricket lovers, you can use some of the stats from that ODI series to help you with your team selection during these 7 ODIs. South Africa U-19

Pick who you know will play for sure as there isn’t much information available in such matches. South Africa U-19s will be captained by Bryce Parsons and this guy is also going to be my captain for this game and probably a few more times in the series. An all-rounder who’s always in the game, Parsons has 9 wickets in his last 5 games including 3 scores of 35 and above. In 2 Youth Tests against India in February this year, he scored 2 fifties and also bagged one 6-fer!

With the ball, Gerald Coetzee has already got some senior team experience at the age of 18, being picked for Knights in the CSA T20 2019 where he picked 5 wickets in 4 games, while he also plays List-A cricket for Free State. Imraan Philander is relatively lesser known among these players but his picked a magical 3/6 in SA U-19’s recent warm-up game against KwaZulu-Natal Academy XI a couple of days back.

Pakistan U-19

My wicket-keeper pick for today comes from Pakistan’s U-19 team as Rohail Nazir, who is also the captain, scored 320 runs in 5 Youth ODIs in the Sri Lanka series recently, which included 3 fifties. Pick him along with his opening partner Haider Ali, who also scored 3 fifties in 5 games in that series, accumulating a total of 214 runs. Mohammad Wasim was the highest wicket-taker for PAK with 7 wickets in 4 ODIs.

All-rounders are key in cricket and Mohammad Taha is one to watch out for and he could also be the vice-captain of my Dotball (Sign-up here) fantasy team. He picked up 4 wickets and also scored 70 runs in that Sri Lanka series and is a valuable part of this side. Another valuable all-rounder is Junaid Khan, who bowls as well as his namesake. He picked up 7 wickets in that series and also managed 63 runs with the bat.
