Pakistan vs Australia – 4th ODI Fantasy Preview

It’s excitement galore at the 2019 Indian Premier league and for those who watched last night’s RCB vs MI match, you would know why. However, there’s some international cricket taking place as well in UAE, with Pakistan hosting Australia for a series of 5 ODIs, with the latter already having sealed the series 3-0, quite easily that too.

Today, the 4th ODI between the two will take place in Dubai, where we will be seeing the first game of this series. Pakistan’s inexperienced bowling line up and inability to take wickets got slightly better with the inclusion of Usman Shinwari and Junaid Khan and if we see them get a few more early wickets, it’s game on in Dubai. Pakistan vs Australia 4th ODI fantasy preview

Form (recent first)

  • Australia: W W W W W W L L
  • Pakistan: L L L L W L L W

Stats

  • Pakistan have only won 8 of their 20 ODIs at this ground.
  • Australia have won 2 of their 3 ODIs at this ground.
  • 300+ has been scored here twice; 355/5 is the highest score – England.
  • Shoaib Malik has 3 fifties and 335 runs at this ground.
  • Aaron Finch has 359 runs in 3 ODIs this series.

Pakistan

48, 16, 36 – Umar Akmal’s scores this series, and honestly, the story of his career so far. He’s got a start in all three ODIs this series but hasn’t managed to kick on. It’s his last chance to prove himself as there won’t really be a place in the World Cup for him once the likes of Babar Azam return. I’m picking Akmal over Haris Sohail, which is a risk but it could pay-off and these kind of risks are necessary in fantasy cricket.

I’m picking both opening bowlers Junaid Khan and Usman Shinwari, as they bowled well in the last game and the rhythm will only get better with more game time. These two will be my only bowling options, while picking the all-round option of Imad Wasim gives another option. My wicket-keeper also comes from Pakistan in Mohammad Rizwan as Alex Carey bats too low down the order and chances of batting are much less for the latter.

Australia

As for the visitors, I picked Aaron Finch as my captain in the last game and even though he scored 90, there wasn’t much of an x-factor as almost everyone had him in their fantasy teams. I’m going to continue with the ever-consistent Usman Khawaja, while I’ll also pick Shaun Marsh, who hasn’t had the best of chances so far with 91, 11*, 14.

Two all-rounder picks in Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis come from this team, but both make my team as normal players and not captain/vice-captain as long partnerships at the top aren’t giving them too much time to bat while they haven’t been used as anything more than just part-time options with the ball. With this game being a dead rubber, one fast bowler may make way for Kane Richardson.
