The 2019/20 Ranji Trophy began in the first week of December and now, we’re all set for Round 5 of the Elite Group of the competition. In this round, we have an exciting clash between two heavyweights of the Indian domestic circuit. On one hand, we have Karnataka who have 2 wins in 4 games but are higher on the points table with a good net run rate.
On the other hand, we have Saurashtra who are technically in a better position with 2 wins in 3 games but they’re lower on the points table right now. Head to head, Saurashtra have historically done much better when these two teams have met in the Ranji Trophy. Keep reading for our complete MyFab11 (sign-up with code “READAD46“) fantasy preview of the SAU vs KAR game…
- Tournament: 2019/20 Ranji Trophy.
- Date: 11th January 2020, 9:30am IST.
- Venue: Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Ground, Rajkot.
- Capacity: 15,000+
- Series status: Round 5, Elite Group.
- SAU: L W W
- KAR: W D D W
- Head to head in last 5 games, Saurashtra leads 3-0.
- Jaydev Unadkat in 3 games this tournament – 21 wickets.
- Cheteshwar Pujara – 6 fifties in his last 10 FC games.
- Devdutt Padikkal – 372 runs in 4 games thus far.
Samarth Vyas, Parth Bhut, and Jay Chauhan were played in the last game but we’re expecting Arpit Vasavada to make a comeback to the team int his round. He smashed 134* in his last game in the Ranji Trophy and should definitely be included in your team. The side is being led by Jaydev Unadkat who is their leading wicket-taker by a long way and was recently picked at the IPL Auction 2020 for around 3 Crore.
Talking about experience, we have Cheteshwar Pujara in the squad who is a regular part of the Indian test team. While he hasn’t had massive scores, he’s coming into this game with two consecutive fifties this tournament. Wicket-keeper batsman Harvik Desai can also be added to your fantasy team,, having scores of 54 and 50 in his last game while also having 2 forties in the 2 games prior to that one.
K Gowtham had a brilliant start to the season with 14 wickets in his first game but is not a part of the squad now. Instead, the wicket-taking option for you now is captain Shreyas Gopal whose leg-spin has been foxing many in the shorter formats. Currently however, he only has 5 wickets in 4 games in this tournament. KL Rahul Karun Nair and Mayank Agarwal will be unavailable for this match.
With a top score of 99 and 4 fifties in 4 games, Devdutt Padikkal is in prime form and should definitely be in your MyFab11 (sign-up with code “READAD46“) fantasy team, since he’s been playing well in the Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali tournaments as well. One of the most experienced players in the side, Abhimanyu Mithun has 13 wickets in 3 games and he can hold his own with the bat, so I’d pick him in my fantasy side too.
