SA vs ENG 2019/20 – 2nd T20I Fantasy Preview

England won the Test series even though the hosts took the initial lead. Then, we had a tied ODI series and now this long tour boils down to 3 T20Is, the first of which was a thriller, where the home team South Africa triumphed by 1 run. Now, we move on to play the 2nd T20I between these world-class teams, at Kingsmead, Durban.

After the last victory, we don’t expect changes in the home team’s winning combination. Similarly, England had the advantage through most of the game, so there may not be any tactical changes here either. Do you think England can bounce back and level the series? Numbers

  • Last 5 games head to head, England leads 3-2.
  • Last 5 completed T20I games here – 4 won batting second.
  • England have lost both their previous T20Is at this ground.
  • Rassie van der Dussen – 7 fifties in 21 ODIs for South Africa.

South Africa

Most of these South African players haven’t played a T20I at this ground before, so we’re going to choose fantasy players on current form. After last game’s performance, Lungi Ngidi will definitely be in my side. He picked a 3-fer in the final ODI and then another one in the 1st T20I. Another potential high-value pick could be Tabraiz Shamsi who bowled brilliantly but ended wicketless with 0/25.

Quinton de Kock will be picked in almost every fantasy side. For me, Rassie van der Dussen will be someone to watch out for who is slowly bringing his ODI form to T20Is too, with 2 fifties in 10 games and 31(26) in the last game. Another player you should have is JJ Smuts who scored 20(20) in the last game and bowls sometimes too, even though he was smashed for 22 in one over in the last game.

England

Save your all-rounder spots for the English players. We have Joe Denly in the middle order who scored only 3 in the last game but recently had a great test series. There’s also Moeen Ali who scored only 5 but bowled a crucial spell of 1/22 in 4 overs. There’s also Ben Stokes who picked a wicket but he was bowled as last change bowler and is batting too low down the order, so he’s someone I might skip.

Shamsi went at 6-odd runs an over, Moeen went under 6 and so did Adil Rashid, who ended with figures of 1/23 in 4 overs, so I’m going in with all spinners once again, so add Rashid to your Howzat (sign-up with code “READ1234”) fantasy team. All the English batsmen are in brilliant form but since Morgan and Roy scored fifties in the last game, I’ll skip them for Jonny Bairstow and Jos Buttler.
