Most of the lesser known cricketing nations or the ‘associates’ so to speak are playing a lot of T20 cricket these days but this latest tri-series in Scotland has focussed on the longer version of 50-overs a side. So far, it’s a tie at the top between the hosts and Oman, with both having 2 wins in 3 games and the hosts ahead with a slightly better net run rate.
In Game 5 today, Scotland plays PNG and the latter is already out of contention with 2 wins in 2 losses and the only way they can win this is two back to back victories, and big victories that too. Keep reading for our complete Fantain (Use Code “READ123”) fantasy preview of the PNG vs SCO game…

Form (recent first)

- Kyle Coetzer has scored 152 runs in 3 games so far.
- Tony Ura in 2 games so far this series – 54, 46.
- Hamza Tahir – 9 wickets in 2 games this series.
- In the reverse fixture, Scotland beat PNG by 3 wickets.
Papua New Guinea Captain Assad Vala’s contributions to this team are priceless and he’s always in the thick of the action, with scores of 24 and 36 so far, along with bowling spells of 1/22 and 3/37 so far. All-rounders are key in fantasy cricket and this guy has been the most consistent so far.
With 100 runs in just 2 innings, Tony Ura has been the star with the bat and we can expect him to continue as he has been in great form. He scored fifties in consecutive T20Is against Vanuatu and Samoa last month as well. Nosaina Pokana can be your specialist bowler who has 4 wickets in 2 games and a couple of months back, he also picked up a List-A 5-fer against Oman.
First name on my team sheet is Kyle Coetzer who has experience of playing in leagues all across the world, also recently finishing a stint at the 2019 Global T20 Canada. He is the highest scorer in the competition along with a best score of 96. Another very talented batsman according to me is Calum MacLeod who hasn’t been able to prove himself so far this series.
He’s only got 44 in 2 innings but I’ll pick him in my Fantain (Use Code “READ123”) fantasy team. All-rounder Richie Berrington is one of my favourite Scottish cricketers but he hasn’t been thrown the bowl for long enough spells. Bowling just a few overs here and there, he has gone wicketless but we can pick him anyway as he has 101 runs in 3 games including a best of 68.
