T20 cricket in Asia took a big step forward by being included in the 2019 South Asian Games which is currently being held in Nepal. In Game 5 of the tournament, we have Sri Lanka U-23 in action, having begun their campaign on a brilliant note, beating both of Nepal and Bhutan so far. They are favourites once again and could even be favourites to win the gold medal in this competition!

Pick a 7-4 team in favour of Sri Lanka U-23 including all top order batsmen and of course, as many bowlers as you can. They registered a massive 173-run win over Bhutan in the last game. Wicket-keeper batsman Nishan Madushka proved his first score of 46 was no fluke, following it up with 65 in the next game. Opener Pathum Nissanka should also be picked, having scores of 30 and 76 so far this competition.
Captain Charith Asalanka hasn’t had the best 2019 South Asian Games so far, with scores of 6 and 25 but he pushed himself up the order and we expect him to do better, coming into this tournament with 100 against AFG Emerging Team. They tried 9 bowlers in the last game and one of only two to get 3 overs was Jehan Daniel who picked 2/8. He’s lesser known and won’t be a very popular fantasy team pick.
Maldives
Umar Adam has to be one of the best all-rounders in the side, who completes his quota of 4 overs and also bats as a floater. In the game against BAN U-23, he only managed 9 runs but bowled a beautiful spell of 0/12 in 4 overs, which is priceless in T20 cricket. Another good bowler pick could be opening bowler Ibrahim Hassan who ended a 4-match wicketless streak picking 1/31 in the last game.
They were bowled out for 65 against BAN U-23, so don’t bother picking too many Maldives batsmen. One player you can add is Ahmed Hassan who scored 10 in that game but has been good for them over the years, with a top T20I score of 53 against Qatar earlier this year.
