15 ODIs will be played between 5-14 September in Sri Lanka where the 2019 U-19 Asia Cup will be contested between 8 teams divided into two groups of 4 teams each. To begin proceedings in this tournament, we have a double header led by the India U-19 vs Kuwait U-19 game. The Afghani youth team is being led by 16-year old Farhan Zakhil and this guy is proving to be one hell of a talent, with 50+ scores in 5 of his last 6 games. His last professional game was an FC game for Kabul where he registered twin centuries with scores of 104 and 108. In March this year, he scored 63 and 24 in two youth ODIs against South Africa U-19.
Another must-have is Fazal Haque is who been good with both bat and ball in his last 3 FC games for Kabul, picking 11 wickets with a best spell of 6/26. With the ball, another very good option could be Abidullah Taniwal who also played for Kabul in a domestic FC game and picked a 5-for in his only bowling effort there.
Keep your wicket-keeper slot only for Rohail Nazir who is the most talented batsman in this Pakistan youth team, while also being their captain. The 17-year old has 4 fifties in his last 6 games for Pakistan U-19. Moreover, we’ve seen him do well whether opening or even in the middle order. Another good batsman who you can’t skip at all is Haider Ali.
This opener is the second name in my Fantain (Use Code “READ123”) fantasy team, with 3 fifties and 2 centuries in his last 10 games for Pakistan U-19, including two massive scores of 116 (vs SA U19) and 160 (vs KZN Acad XI). Pick as many of these young pacers as you can, as they’ve all been among the wickets. Aamir Ali picked 13 wickets in 7 ODI when in South Africa recently, while Naseem Shah was close behind with 12 wickets in 5 games.
