Yesterday was the first day of the 2019 U-19 Asia Cup where 15 ODIs will be played in Sri Lanka and 8 teams will battle it out for Asian supremacy. A couple of games were played on the first day and a couple of more are scheduled for Day 2. Both are Group B games which kick off at the same time and we’re here to talk about Match 3 of the Youth Asia Cup – Sri Lanka U-19 vs Nepal U-19.
Nepal U19 hasn’t had as much as exposure as the hosts, but they have plenty of talent with some of these players even having played for the senior side. As for the hosts, they recently played host to Pakistan U-19 and lost, because the visiting team was well on top of their game. Sri Lanka U-19
Nipun Dananjaya will captain the hosts but I’ll skip him as this all-rounder has just one fifty and only 2 wickets in his last 10 professional games. Instead, I’ll pick a very talented wicket-keeper batsman in Kamil Mishara, who was their top scorer in the series vs Pakistan U-19, scoring 3 fifties in 5 games. In fact, he went on to get even better scores for Colombo U19s, where his last three scores read 152, 97 and 120.
Another good all-round option would be Navod Paranavithana who had a fifty in three games against Pakistan U19. Since then, he has three big scores for Galle U19s, also having picked 3 wickets in his last 3 domestic games. He picked 4 wickets in that series against Pakistan. With the ball, consider picking Dilshan Madushanka who was their leading wicket-taker hen Pakistan toured them for 5 ODIs with at least a wicket in every game.
Nepal U-19
We’ve been following all-rounder Pawan Sarraf since a while and he was brilliant in a recent ACC tournament in Malaysia. He has 14 wickets in his last 10 professional games while he can be pretty handy with the bat as well. He scored 148 runs in 4 games at the U-19 ACC Easter Region qualifier, while also bowling in each game. Nepal went on to win that tournament and another successful player there was Sagar Dhakal.

With the bat, Rit Gautam was aggressive and scored 141 runs in 4 games, including a massive top score of 115* so he’s someone you would want to have in your team.
