2019 ICC World Cup semi-finalists India has recently left for a tour of West Indies but to begin with, they play 2 T20s in Lauderhill, Florida before they go ahead and play the 3rd T20, 2 Tests and 3 ODIs in the Caribbean. The 1st T20 was played on 3rd August and the 2nd T20 is being played on the same ground on 4th August, so expect similar conditions and scores.
It was a sticky and tricky surface which saw West Indies only managing 95/9 in their 20 overs, after initially being reduced to 33/5. India also found it tough initially but later completed the chase with ease, taking a lead in the 3-match series, 1-0. - 245/6 is the highest total here – West Indies vs India in 2016.

It’s weird how the two players who were not a part of the West Indies national team for the longest period were the ones who hurt India the most, with Kieron Pollard scoring 49 and more than half of the WI total of 95 in the 1st T20. Similarly with the ball, Sunil Narine was the hero picking up 2 wickets in 2 balls in his first over itself. With Narine’s capabilities with the bat too, he’s a must-have pick in your fantasy teams.
Narine picked up 2/14 in his 4 overs and also has a total of 9 wickets here in 5 T20Is. With the bat, I’ll skip both the openers who picked ducks and won’t miss out on Nicholas Pooran who is one of the next rising stars of West Indies, smashing 20(16) in the 1st T20, but putting up an impressive show in the World Cup including a century against Sri Lanka, after a few sizzling knocks in the recent IPL 2019.
Captain Virat Kohli is easily my favourite cricketer and while I might be biased, he’s always my first Nostragamus (sign-up with “READSCOOPS” for Rs.100 FREE) fantasy picks when India plays. If not him, Rohit Sharma is also a good pick, top scoring with 24(25) and falling after giving the team a good star. I’d love to see KL Rahul get a hit but it’s likely that India goes on to play an unchanged eleven.
With the ball, the debutant Navdeep Saini showed no nerves at the biggest stage, putting up a great display of pace bowling and ending with 3/17, while Khaleel Ahmed is also a good choice, having already played 11 T20Is for India. Among the pacers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the most senior player but he has shown an inability to pick up wickets ever since IPL 2019. He picked up 2/19 in the 1st T20 but I’ll skip him today.
