WI vs AFG in India 2019 – 3rd T20 Fantasy Preview

The ODI series was a real walkover for West Indies but we can’t say the same about the T20 series so far. They won the opening game of the 3-match series but then fell short by 41 runs in pursuit of 148 in the 2nd T20. Afghanistan is more dangerous in the shorter formats and we can bet on them to go on and get a rare bilateral series victory as well, currently tied 1-1 after two games.

The strategy would be to win the toss and bat first which was worked in both games so far. Another thing we know is that a score of 150 is also defendable while the slower bowlers have done much better than the pacers. Numbers

  • Head to head in last 5 T20Is, West Indies leads 4-1.
  • Brandon King – 496 runs in 12 matches in CPL 2019.
  • Kesrick Williams – 6 wickets in 2 games this series so far.
  • Rashid Khan – only 5 wickets in last 10 professional games.

West Indies

I’ve always mentioned that Kesrick Williams is one of the better T20 bowlers from the Caribbean islands because of all his many variations. On such a slow pitch, these variations have done wonders, picking up 3 wickets in each game so far. Another person who should be picked with the ball is Jason Holder as Sheldon Cottrell has only been bowling pace which hasn’t really worked well so far, with only 1 wicket in 2 games.

With the bat, pick Brandon King even though he’s had a poor series so far, with 16 runs in 2 games and a top score of 12. He had a good CPL 2019 and won’t be a very popular fantasy pick, making him a good option. Along with him, Denesh Ramdin is a worthy wicket-keeper batsman pick who played a couple of smart innings in CPL 2019 and has 44 runs in 2 games here too. Their top run scorer so far – Evin Lewis with 82 runs in 2 games.

Afghanistan

He didn’t have a great ODI series but all-rounder Gulbadin Naib is the first pick for my Nostragamus (sign-up with “READSCOOPS” for Rs.100 FREE) fantasy team with 3 wickets and a top score of 24 runs in 2 games so far. Talking about all-rounders, Mohammad Nabi is also a worthy pick, even though he has only 10 runs and not a single wicket in this series so far. He’s a good captain/vice-captain choice here.

With the bat, Asghar Afghan had a fantastic ODI series and his aggressive nature suits the T20 game better. He has 33 runs in 2 games and is a good choice with the bat, while Rashid Khan is someone I will drop, especially since he hasn’t been among the wickets and he will be picked by almost every fantasy side. Karim Janat shocked the world with 5/11 and 26 runs in the 2nd T20 and he’s a worthy choice as well.
