Get away from the ICC 2019 World Cup as there is plenty of other cricket happening including England Women hosting Windies Women. Very recently, the hosts completed a whitewash in the 3-match ODI series, thrashing Windies Women after batting first in every game, including winning by 135 runs in the 3rd ODI. Now, we have 3 T20Is and the first of them was washed out due to rain without a single ball being bowled.
Both teams have maintained similar squads and while WI-W are clear underdogs, they have been world champions in the past in the T20 format, so you shouldn’t at all rule them out completely. The ‘crash-boom-bang’ style of cricket suits them best, much like the men’s team. Keep reading for our complete DuggOut (sign-up to get Rs.50 FREE) fantasy preview of the ENGW vs WIW 2nd T20…

Form (recent first)
- ENGW: W W W W W W W
- WIW: L L L L W W L
- England is 2nd in the ICC T20 Rankings.
- Windies is 4th in the ICC T20 Rankings.
- Heather Knight had 148 runs and 2 wickets in the ODI series.
- Afy Fletcher, Hayley Mathews had 6, 7 wickets each in the ODI series.
- Amy Ellen Jones had 189 runs in 3 games in the ODI series.
- WI Women lost the ODIs by 208, 121 and 135 runs respectively.
The recent one was a magical ODI series for Amy Ellen Jones. She ended as the top scorer of that series and by a fair margin too. Pick her in your team as this form has been going on since a while now, including a century and 2 fifties for Warwickshire Women in last month’s Royal London Women’s competition. Sarah Taylor is a popular pick and while she isn’t at her best, she looked good in an innings of 70 in one ODI. The opposition keeper Kycia Knight has only 1 fifty in 63 ODIs.
Alex Hartley and Bryony Smith were left out of the T20I squad while Katherine Brunt and Natalie Sciver returned. Another person added to the squad is Linsey Smith but it seems unlikely she will make the team for the 1st T20. Brunt should be a part of your team as she carries a lot of experience and Katie Cross is another bowler you can pick; she was England’s highest wicket-taker in the ODI series – 5 in 3 games.
It was a horrible ODI series for WI Women, but Hayley Matthews was a huge positive. We can expect her to be even better when she plays her favourite format – T20. She makes a good captain/vice-captain pick as she bagged 7 wickets and scored 40 runs in the ODI series. Another brilliant all-rounder is the captain Stafanie Taylor, and both of them should be a part of your DuggOut (sign-up to get Rs.50 FREE) fantasy team.
It wasn’t the best series for Taylor, getting only 2 wickets and 7 runs in 3 ODIs, but she’s capable of much more, and since there won’t be too many fantasy teams picking her, you should for sure. Another positive that came from that series was Chedean Nation, who ended as their top scorer with 66 runs and one particularly impressive knock of 42*. She has hit 63* in her last T20I knock. With the ball, you should pick Afy Fletcher for sure.
