Everyone’s so engrossed in the ICC 2019 World Cup that we tend to forget about other cricketing tournaments also taking place around the world. Earlier this month, the ICC T20 World Cup Europe Region Final took place and now, we end the month with the 2019 ICC Women’s Qualifier Europe, hosted in Spain and contested between three European teams – Germany Women, Scotland Women and Netherlands Women.

Stats

  • Scotland Women are 13th in the ICC Women’s T20 Rankings.
  • Germany Women are 31st in the ICC Women’s T20 Rankings.
  • Kathryn Bryce – 129 runs and 5 wickets in 5 T20Is so far.

Scotland Women

Since there isn’t going to be much of information available regarding this match, let’s select players we know will play. First on that list is obviously the Scotland Women captain, which is 21-year old Kathryn Bryce. Not only does she contribute with bat and ball both, she is coming off a successful season with Warwickshire Women at the Royal London Women’s Cup where she picked up three 2-wicket hauls and also scored 45 in her final appearance there.

She opens the innings with her sister Sarah Bryce and this girl is my wicket-keeper pick for the day, especially since she has an even better record thus far – 162 runs n 5 T20s. She also played for Notts Women at the RLODC where she smashed 3 fifties in her last 4 innings in England. With the ball, Rachel Scholes has 8 wickets in 5 T20s but she also hit 90 runs in 2 Scotland A games recently, so there’s a lot of value in picking her.

Germany Women

Again, the first name on the fantasy team sheet must be the captain, which in this case is Anuradha Doddaballapur, who is actually a scientist by profession. Another person who is a must-have in fantasy teams is all-rounder and former captain who has been around since the start of women’s cricket in Europe, Stephanie Frohnmayer. Her experience with bat and ball both could gain you some vital points in the fantasy leagues.

Christina Gough has picked up 4 wickets and scored 27 runs in her last two appearances for Germany Women so she is also worth adding to your PlayerzPot (Use Code “READ1234”) fantasy team. Another player worth selecting in your team is bowler Asmita Kohli. If she’s anything like her Indian captain namesake, there’s going to be a lot of fantasy points on offer here.
