The 2019 Women’s World T20 Qualifiers is underway in Scotland and the home team Scotland Women made a good start yesterday with a 30-run victory over USA Women and a spot straight to the top of the points table. Now, they play PNG Women in Match 6 of the tournament at Dundee, and remember, favour the teams batting second primarily because there’s a lot of rain around the corner in Scotland.
Another factor to keep in mind is that we’ve noticed low scores and plenty of wickets falling, so we can go bowling-heavy in these fantasy games. As for PNG Women, they took away a single point after losing their first game to rain. Captain Kaia Arua should be your first pick from PNG Women as she’s the only genuine all-rounder in the team and she will be doing a lot of batting and bowling both. The team had a recent warm-up game here against Ireland and only two players managed to get into double figures that day. Sibona Jimmy scored 16 that day and she’s a good option since she opens the batting and bowls once in a while too, with 14 wickets in 17 T20Is.
Brenda Tau top scored in that game with 20 but the Scotland wicket-keeper is a much better pick, so choose Tau only if your fantasy league allows two wicket-keepers. 21-year old Natasha Ambo is a good choice with the ball as she has a total of 15 wickets in 12 career T20Is. Ravina Oa is another great pick as she has 22 wickets in 15 career T20Is for PNG Women, including 1/26 in the warm-up.
First person for me always is Kathryn Bryce, fresh off a decent season at the 2019 Kia Super League in England where she picked 8 wickets in 9 games. Bryce’s involvement in the game is huge as she opens with both bat and ball, winning player of the match in the last game with 29(20) and 2/6 in 2 overs. Once again, she’s my fantasy team captain while her sister Sarah Bryce is my wicket-keeper.
Sarah had a rare failure in the last game when she got dismissed for 12(10), but you should have her in your Nostragamus (sign-up with “READSCOOPS” for Rs.100 FREE) fantasy picks anyway, considering she had four consecutive 40+ scores including 2 fifties in 4 games prior to this. Just 14 years old, Katherine Fraser already has 10 international wickets in just 8 T20Is so far, and she’s worth considering as well.
