IPL 2018 – Match 6 – Rajasthan Royals vs Delhi Daredevils Preview

The previous game in IPL 2018 was contested between Chennai and Kolkata, both of who started their campaign with wins. This game will be the opposite, as Rajasthan Royals take on Delhi Daredevils at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, and both these teams began their season with losses.

Teams

When you look at the two line-ups, one would say that Rajasthan have a much better team than that of Delhi’s, with some of the most expensive players of the IPL 2018 auction like Stokes and Unadkat in their squad. However, they had a horrible first outing but then again, you could just attribute that to the fact that they haven’t played in the league for 2 years.

On the other hand is Delhi Daredevils, a team that doesn’t have a squad good enough to win the league (they never do anyway), but they surprise you when you least expect it. Both have been under-performers in the Indian Premier League but both also bring out brilliant performances when least expected.

RR v DD

Key players!

I was surprised with Rajasthan’s team selection in the last game. They have young Jofra Archer in the team who should’ve been playing in Ben Laughlin’s place, while Heinrich Klaasen showed his ability to play Indian spinners in the recent South Africa tour; he should slot in for D’Arcy Short. Glenn Maxwell returns for Delhi, and he should replace Dan Christian in the playing eleven!

Overall

Even if Short keeps his place, he has shown how dangerous he can be in the recent Big Bash League. Maxwell coming back into the team will be the X-factor for DD. Rajasthan boasts of much more experience compared to Delhi Daredevils. I’m expecting Gambhir to continue scoring runs, but end up on the losing side once again. Rajasthan Royals to win!

Apart from all these analysis, do remember that all five games so far have been by the team winning the toss. All five elected to field and won the matches later. So I guess a lot will depend on the outcome of the toss!
