IPL 2018 – Match 9 – Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Daredevils Preview

It was just around 24 hours back that Mumbai Indians suffered another 1-wicket loss in the 2018 Indian Premier League. Both games, they lost on the final ball of the match and they will be gutted that they’ve not managed in single point in the league as yet. Delhi Daredevils, too, are lagging at the bottom of the table, with 2 losses in an equal number of games. Here, one team will break free from the bottom of the table. Who will it be?

Teams

While Delhi have been beaten comprehensively, Mumbai have come close to winning in both their games so far, and can draw a lot of positives from these games as well. For example, they have discovered a leg break bowler in Mayank Markande, someone who flights the ball beautifully, to pick up important wickets. He has 7 wickets in 2 games – the Purple Cap holder in his debut IPL season!

Delhi Daredevils had had a horrid start to their IPL 2018 as well, and playing MI at their fortress (Wankhede) isn’t giving them an easy chance to bring up their first win of the season. Delhi’s hopes lie highly in their overseas players, especially Munro, Maxwell and Mprris, who are tonkers of the cricket ball.

MI vs DD

Like I said before, the Daredevils are an unpredictable side, coming up with good performances when you least expect it. However, they’re up against the most successful team in the Indian Premier League! Their last game was a 6-over shoot-out so there shouldn’t be any changes to the playing eleven.

Overall

Although not a great fan of the Mumbai Indians, this is their best chance of opening their account in IPL 2018 and I believe MI will win. However, team changes can be expected. Hardik Pandya hasn’t regained 100% fitness so Pradeep Sangwan may keep his place, while Cutting may lose his place to McClenaghan after a bad last over against Sunrisers.

My tips IPL 2018 have been bang on target so far, having predicted right in 7 out of 8 games thus far. I wouldn’t want to be on the losing side of this contest as it would mean starting your season with 3 consecutive losses. Expect a high scoring game at the Wankhede, and remember to be slightly partial towards the team chasing!
