Most Runs by a Batsman at a Single Venue in ODIs

Tamim Iqbal, Bangladesh opening batsman, has scored his third consecutive fifty plus score today (January 23rd) against Zimbabwe in the ongoing tri-series tournament involving Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.

Tamim today scored 74 runs off 105 deliveries which included 6 boundaries. One can point at his strike rate but the pitch was prepared in such a fashion that it has some dark patches which would certainly assist the spin bowlers more, or even the slower bowlers!

With this half-century, Tamim Iqbal now has 2,549 runs at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium which is the most runs scored by any player at a single venue in ODIs. He has broken the world record!

Sri Lankan opener Sanath Jayasuriya was the holder of this record before. Sanath had scored 2,514 runs in the 71 ODIs he played at the R Premadesa Stadium (RPS) in Colombo.
