Ravi Inder Singh Shines in PPL 2018 Final

A couple of weeks of intense cricketing action and finally, Nepal’s inaugural Pokhara Premier League has come to an end. After kicking off on 26th October, PPL 2018 saw plenty of twists and turns, but it was the namesake team Pokhara Paltan that eventually won the final and took away the winner’s trophy.

Maybe it was meant to be or maybe it was just a brilliant bit of batting on the final day, especially from Punjab’s Ravi Inder Singh. This Nepali league saw plenty of international stars and many Indian players as well, who shined throughout the tournament. One of them was Singh, a player who just completed his 31st birthday and one who has played 45 First Class games for Punjab.

In his career, not many games would’ve turned out to be as important as this one, where his franchise was in need of a good innings chasing 161 to win in the all-important league final. Chitwan Rhinos skipper Paras Khadka played a captain’s knock of 51(37) to ensure a competitive total was put up on the board.

Paltan lost an early wicket upfront and it was all up to #3 batsman Ravi Inder Singh to steady the ship. He did this perfectly before switching gears at the right time to ensure Paltan get over the line. He missed out on a century in what was his second 50+ score of the tournament but he had done his part, with his team managing to get over the line even though they had lost 7 wickets.

Eventually, the first ever Pokhara Premier League came to an end and it was a thrilling season, with the final ending in the final over, where Paltan won with 4 balls to spare. That innings from Singh meant he ended as the top scorer of the league as well, finishing with 260 runs from his 6 matches, overtaking Gaurav Tomar who had 212 runs, also from India.

Nepal cricket fans will now have a void to fill as the tournament is over and they will now have to wait for the PPL to return again next year. With the success of this season, maybe more teams and better players may return next year. Until then, keep reading ReadScoops.com for more cricketing updates from around the world.
