Shadman Set to Debut in 2nd Windies Test

Uncapped Shadman Islam is all set to make his international debut for Bangladesh as the hosts name their 13-man squad for the 2nd and final Test match against West Indies. Imrul Kayes has been ruled out from the 2nd Test owing to his shoulder pain. Meanwhile, if Tamim Iqbal is passed fit, he can be included in the squad at anytime.

Resting Imrul Kayes is the only change made by Bangladesh to their squad from the 1st Test. With this change, Islam is now set to open with Soumya Sarkar in the 2nd Test match at the Shere Bangla Cricket Stadium in Dhaka which starts from November 30.

“Imrul Kayes is having pain on his shoulder and that is the reason we opted to rest him. We are looking forward to see how Shadman responds to international cricket. If he makes it into the XI as he is scoring runs quite consistently in the domestic tournament,” said BCB selector Minhajul Abedin.

“There is no specific update of Tamim injury status so we did not include him. But if he is available we can include him anytime. That is why we had to announce a 13-member squad,” he added.

Hosts Bangladesh thumped West Indies in the 1st Test in Chittagong by a margin of 64 runs to go 1-0 up in the 2-match Test series. A win or a draw in the 2nd Test match will help Bangladesh win the Test series while West Indies have to win the same match to level the series and end 1-1!
