Victorious India Earn Prize Money From BCCI

India have successfully defeated Australia by a margin of eight wickets in Under 19 World Cup Finals to win the title at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui.

“I am really proud of them. I think the effort they’ve put in, really proud of that. I’m proud of the support staff as well. The effort we have put in over the last 14 months has been sensational. They really deserved this, couldn’t be happier and proud for this bunch of boys,” said Rahul Dravid, the Indian Under 19 team coach.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced cash rewards for all the members who were involved in this memorable World Cup title win. Below is the complete statement from the BCCI:


The Honorable Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (COA) on Saturday, February 3, 2018, announced cash rewards for the victorious India U19 team that won the ICC U19 World Cup in New Zealand after beating Australia in the final.


The following is the breakdown of the prize money.

  • Mr Rahul Dravid, Head Coach India U19 – INR 50 lakhs
  • Members of India U19 team – INR 30 lakhs each
  • Members of the Support Staff, India U19 – INR 20 lakhs each

Mr. Vinod Rai, Chairman, CoA, said, “I congratulate the U19 team who have made the country proud. Head Coach Rahul Dravid played his cricket with sincerity and it was pleasing to see the boys uphold the value. They have been fantastic athletes and even better ambassadors. The boys have done so well, and I am sure they will work hard and climb the ladder and represent the senior team in the future.”


Ms. Diana Edulji, Member, CoA, said, “The consistent performance is a testimony to the fact of BCCI’s initiative in nurturing the talent and providing them an environment to the youngsters and perform to their potential. I congratulate Rahul Dravid and his team for returning home with the glittering ICC World Cup.”


India went unbeaten in the tournament winning all the three games in the group stages. They defeated Bangladesh in the Quarter Final and Pakistan in the Semi Final before beating Australia in the Finals. This title win is their fourth and India now have most Under-19 Cricket World Cup trophies. India U-19 WC trophy wins came in 2000, 2008, 2012 and 2018. Australia with 3 titles are the second in this list.
