West Indies vs England – 2nd ODI Fantasy Preview

The 1st ODI between West Indies and England was a hit on all counts. Firstly, it was brilliant to see the Universe Boss Chris Gayle back in the side. Secondly, it was great to see him perform and get another international century. Thirdly, it was fantastic to see the home team putting up such a high score, after we all thought it was going to be a walkover for England.

Fourthly and most importantly according to me, it was great to see England consolidate their position as one of the top ODI teams in the world, and chase down that target relatively easily. Now,we’re set for the 2nd ODI to take place at the same ground in Barbados, and you can get a complete Dream11 or fantasy sports preview here…

Form (recent first)

West Indies: L L W L L
England: W L W W W

Stats

  • Windies have won just 1 of their last 6 ODIs at Kensington Oval.
  • England have won 8 of their 13 ODIs here, enjoying a better success rate (61%) than the home team (40%).
  • The highest score at this ground was recorded by England itself – 364/4 in the last ODI.
  • Chris Gayle enjoys a phenomenal record at this ground – 638 runs (highest at Kensington Oval) in 12 games.

West Indies

Both teams will be looking to maintain the same playing elevens, with one change on either side at the most. Both played exceptionally, while both will have to work much better on the bowling. Only Sri Lanka have had a worse economy rate in death overs in recent times than England and West Indies.

Chris Gayle will now become a pick in everyone’s fantasy team for the 2nd ODI, but I’d like to give him a miss after picking him in the last game. Reason? Gayle has never been known for consistency in his career, while he was also showing stiffness in the field after his century. On the bowling front, Carlos Brathwaite was ineffective with the ball and the home team may consider an extra bowler in his place, in Sheldon Cottrell.

England

England too, will be looking to make changes in the bowling department. Remember, some as talented as David Willey is sitting out on the bench. He provides a floater option in the batting order as well, and he could come in place of Chris Woakes, who could be rested, owing to continuous knee issues he is managing.

With the bat, I suggested picking both Joe Root and Jason Roy, considering they both scored centuries in the warm-up game. They brought that form into the ODIs and scored centuries again, but I’d now recommend dropping one. Pick Alex Hales or Eoin Morgan for the 2nd ODI. Spice it up. The popular players never win you anything in fantasy cricket.
