West Indies vs England – 4th ODI Fantasy Preview

England’s tour to West Indies 2019 has been a very exciting one so far, with some really good cricket on display in the Test series as well as the ODI series so far. Everyone was in anticipation of a good contest in the 3rd ODI of the series but it turned out to be a real dampener as the match was abandoned due to rain without a single ball being played.

The 4th ODI is going to be played at Grenada, the same venue where the last game was supposed to be played, but the forecast for today seems sunny and chances of getting a game are 100%. Both teams have changes coming into this ODI, and we expect the entertainment to continue when the match kicks off later today.

Stats

  • West Indies have won all of their last 5 ODIs at Grenada (although the opponents have been Zimbabwe and Bangladesh).
  • Three 300+ scores have come here. 274/3 is the highest successful chase.
  • Chris Gayle has 3 fifties and 286 runs at this venue (highest among current batsmen).
  • England is yet to play an ODI at this ground.

England

Alex Hales was brought int the team for the 3rd ODI to bat at number 5 as Ben Stokes was dropped with a sore ankle. All eyes on Stokes now, as he was my captain for the previous game and he will continue to be in my team in this game too, as he is slated to be back – a risk I’m willing to take as he is a major contributor.

Chris Woakes was also set to be brought back in the last game in place of Tom Curran. On the batting front, Jason Roy, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan and Stokes have all been in red-hot form, while Jonny Bairstow has gone unnoticed. Bairstow thus becomes a good pick for my 4th ODI fantasy team, considering he won’t be a part of many teams today.

West Indies

Huge boost for West Indies coming into the 4th ODI is the return of Andre Russell. He joined the squad a couple of days back itself but was scheduled to be back in the 4th ODI, and he comes straight into the all-rounder spot of the out-of-form Carlos Brathwaite. He could be my captain or vice-captain, while I believe John Campbell is a high-value pick, just as Bairstow is for England.

With the ball, you could pick one pacer and one spinner in Oshane Thomas and Ashley Nurse. Sheldon Cottrell has been brilliant and his 5-for in the 2nd ODI means he is going to be a very popular pick in fantasy teams today. So, if you want to win, go for the lesser selected Thomas, while selecting both Thomas and Cottrell is an option too.
