Why You Shouldn’t Miss Amazon Prime’s Inside Edge

Inside Edge is the first ever original Indian web series, based on a fictional T20 team known as the Mumbai Mavericks that plays in the PowerPlay League. Season 1 of the series (10 episodes) released on 10th July 2017 and is available to watch exclusively on Amazon Prime!

The series was made in likeness to the Indian Premier League and is based on all the dirty games involved in the sport of cricket; an insider view. The show has pulled no punches and minced no words to present us with a ‘behind the scenes’ view to the game of cricket.

Film actress Zarina Malik (Richa Chadda) is the owner of the Mavericks and does all that’s possible to keep the team alive when she goes through a huge financial difficulty in her life. She finds an investor in Mr. Vikrant Dhawan (Vivek Oberoi) but he may not be the perfect person for the team.

These ten episodes will give you a completely different look at the sport of cricket and the clever content that has been delivered will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout each episode of 40-45 minutes. Sex, money and power do play a big role in influencing final decisions made on and off the field.

A lot of hard work and hundreds of takes were done to ensure that Inside Edge would look brilliant on screen, and I must say, the producers have certainly succeeded in doing so. After the success of this first season, Richa has already been signed for the next couple of seasons.

I was personally hooked on and loved every minute of the series. It depicts the ‘Game behind the game’, how rookies find it very difficult to survive and how sometimes talent may not matter at all, if you want to be successful. IMDb has given Inside Edge an 8.3 rating.

Other stars to watch out for in this season include the Mavericks captain Arvind Vashishth (Angad Bedi), bad boy and star player Vayu Raghavan (Tanuj Virwani), his on/off girlfriend and reporter Meera Nagpal (Sarah-Jane Dias) and a lot of other talented artists.

Angad Bedi was perfect for the role as he was an U-19 player for Delhi himself, and is also the son of former Indian spinner Bishen Singh Bedi. Creator Karan Anshuman has done a fantastic job in every aspect of the show and we at Read Scoops would give this a 4.5/5 rating. A must watch, if you ask me.

Well done Inside Edge. Well done Amazon Prime!
